Siheyuan: I just came across and wanted to chase me away

Chapter 987 Interrogation of Xiao Bao

Chapter 987 Interrogation of Xiao Bao

Gu Nan stared at Xiao Bao, the emotions surging in his eyes finally solidifying into undisguised killing intent. His voice was as soft as a sigh in the wind, yet it carried a chill that could freeze bones: "You come to me for revenge, you can use any tricks or underhanded methods, I can keep you entertained. But the one thing you shouldn't have done was target my family."

He paused, each word sharp and chilling: "So, you deserve to die."

Xiao Bao's forced, cold smile froze instantly, like a frozen lake. He stared into Gu Nan's emotionless eyes, which held no boundless anger, no deep-seated hatred, only a deathly coldness, as if he were looking at a roadside stone, an object long since dead. A chill shot up from the soles of his feet to the back of his neck, freezing him so that his teeth chattered uncontrollably—only now did he belatedly realize that he had not offended an ordinary worker who could be easily manipulated, but a wolf whose sore spot had been touched, a wolf that hid its claws but could kill instantly.

Just then, the door creaked open, and Gu Bei walked in, still smelling of dust. Gu Nan turned to look at him, her tone calmer: "How is it? Has everything been taken care of over there?"

Gu Bei nodded, his gaze sweeping over Xiao Bao before landing on Gu Nan: "Don't worry, all his scattered henchmen and hideouts have been wiped out. Did that kid confess?"

Gu Nan shook his head, a cold sneer curling at the corner of his lips: "He's incredibly stubborn, refusing to say anything, insisting he did everything himself. Do you think I believe him?"

Gu Bei seemed to completely disregard Xiao Bao, walking straight to Gu Nan's side: "What do you plan to do? If you really want to kill him, I'll handle it. You have a family now, and you need to live a peaceful life. Murder is punishable by death; I can't let you get involved in this."

Gu Nan's gaze returned to Xiao Bao, his tone calm yet undeniably resolute: "Killing him would be too lenient. After all, he has so much blood on his hands and has done so many heinous things; he deserves to die."

Gu Bei frowned. He didn't want Gu Nan to have any lives on his hands; it wouldn't be worth it. He thought for a moment and said, "How about we hand him over to Director Tong? Director Tong has been secretly helping us these past few days. Handing him over will bring him to justice, settle this matter, and clear your name completely, allowing you to live a peaceful life from now on."

Gu Nan turned to look at Gu Bei, a flash of approval in his eyes: "Your method of cleaning up the scene was efficient, but that's not enough." He tapped his fingertips lightly on the table, his voice low, "We need to make some more arrangements, otherwise how can we get that 'friend' to go to the police station to 'turn himself in' smoothly, and make sure he 'confessses' everything he needs to say?"

Although Gu Bei didn't know exactly what he was planning, he always trusted Gu Nan's ideas, so he immediately nodded decisively: "Whatever you want to do, I'll cooperate."

Gu Nan didn't answer directly, his gaze shifting to Xiao Bao, who was firmly bound to the chair. Xiao Bao's legs were still bleeding, his face deathly pale, yet he still held his neck high, his eyes filled with arrogance. A cryptic smile played on Gu Nan's lips as he slowly spoke, "I've decided to give you a chance. Tell me, who's behind you? Spit out everything you know, and maybe you'll have a way out."

Xiao Bao scoffed, spitting almost onto Gu Nan's face. His eyes blazed with disdain: "Don't try that crocodile tears trick. Either take me to the police station now, or just kill me. Trying to extract information from me? Don't waste your time." He knew perfectly well—these two wouldn't dare linger. If he could just hold out until they left, the thin wire he'd hidden in his teeth would untie the ropes in a matter of minutes. He was determined to make Gu Nan and his family pay, especially Gu Nan's pregnant wife—he'd make her suffer excruciating pain!

Gu Nan seemed to see through his calculations, and suddenly smiled, slowly taking out several items from his bag—first, two modified daggers, their blades gleaming with a ghostly blue light, clearly tempered; then, a dark stun gun, still covered in dried grime; and finally, several packets of white powder with foreign labels, obviously not good stuff. These were all seized from Wang Ran's small clinic, originally intended as evidence, but now they came in handy.

He laid these items out one by one on the table in front of Xiao Bao, pushing them very close to him: "Look at these. If they were to appear at the police station with you, how much do you think your charges would increase? Illegal possession of controlled knives, illegal possession of prohibited drugs... Add to that all the shady things you've done before, wouldn't that be enough to put you in jail for life?"

Xiao Bao's eyelids twitched, and his Adam's apple bobbed involuntarily. These things, if they got on him, would certainly be enough to cause him trouble. But his expression remained tough, his teeth clenched: "You want to frame me? Gu Nan, you're too green." He was certain that Gu Nan and Gu Bei would leave soon—after all, this wasn't their territory, and the longer they lingered, the more likely trouble would arise. Once they left, he would have plenty of opportunities to escape, and then he could turn around and pin a frame-up charge on Gu Nan, finally getting revenge for his broken leg.

Gu Nan glanced at the calculating glint in his eyes, then suddenly chuckled softly, a chilling laugh: "Xiao Bao, do you think you're strong enough to easily escape once we're gone, and then turn around and deliver a fatal blow?"

Xiao Bao's heart sank—how could this guy have seen through his thoughts? But he quickly composed himself, forcing a ruthless glint in his eyes: "You're not so bad after all. Unless you kill me now, as long as I get out of here alive, not only you, but your wife, children, parents, and relatives will all be caught! You should know that there's nothing I, Xiao Bao, can't accomplish if I set my mind to it."

These words were like a spark, instantly igniting the fury in Gu Nan's eyes. He hated nothing more than being threatened with one's family, especially when his pregnant wife was mentioned. His pupils suddenly turned bloodshot, and his entire aura turned icy. Seeing this, Gu Bei quickly reached out and pressed down on his arm, his fingertips digging into his skin, whispering a warning: "Gu Nan, calm down! He's deliberately provoking you! If you kill him, you'll fall right into Xiao Bao's trap—no one can testify against him, and all the blame will fall on us. We'll be the ones who can't explain ourselves!"
