Chapter 521 Rescue, prepare to evacuate
Captain America led the clone soldiers to attract the enemy's attention. Behind them were long corridors with abandoned drone wreckage scattered on the floor. There were many burn marks on the walls, and destroyed turrets were either embedded in the walls or hanging from the ceiling.
"Reporting the situation." Captain America shouted over the radio.
"This is Voss. We're on our way to the rest of our team. This place is full of drones."
"Ella, Scott, how are you?" Captain America asked.
There was a brief silence that made Cap and his crew uncomfortable, and they waited for a response.
"Yes, Captain." Ant-Man's voice finally came, with a little frustration, which was beyond Captain America's expectations.
"Scott, what happened over there?" Captain America raised his shield to block the impending energy impact, and at the same time the shield bounced up and shot down the drone that was firing at him.
"We have a big problem," Ella replied.
"what's the situation?"
"Ultron has been capturing humans and converting them into Ultron drones," Ant-Man explained.
The news shocked and confused those present.
"We found out that he was controlling a group of former Jedi Knights," Aayla continued. "They were all children, the Padawans - the hopes of Jabium. Ultron took their lives and transformed them..."
Captain America and Black Widow looked at each other, with a brief flash of memory in their eyes. They had experienced together the days when Ultron fought off the Republic and the Separatists on the planet Jabium, and remembered the young team known as the Padawan. Ultron took over their bodies and changed them...
"Where are you now?" Captain America asked in a cold voice.
"We have successfully rescued all the prisoners in the cells," Aayla reported, "We found Master Pierre and Admiral Tarkin, the latter of whom was almost transformed."
Black Widow asked, "Where's Barris?"
"She is helping to treat the prisoners' injuries." Ant-Man replied, "She... although she is not injured, she looks not in good condition."
"How many prisoners do you estimate you have right now?" the technician asked, crouching down to cover himself while flipping through the data slate.
"Probably dozens of them," Ant-Man replied, "maybe more..."
"There are nearly two hundred of us here, Captain. Ultron has been looking for manpower for his crazy experiments," the Wasp corrected.
"We must rush to the original assembly point as soon as possible and evacuate them from here. We cannot let them stay here for too long."
Commander Bligh interrupted the suggestion. "If we do that, we'll likely lead them into a swarm of highly alert drones. We need to find another way out."
"There is a hangar located next to the prison cell you were in," Tap said. "Mr. Long and Ms. Van Dyne can guide you there and use their shrinking technology to activate the gunship and transport the prisoners to safety far away from here."
"But the prerequisite is that they can successfully escape the pursuit of Ultron's fleet." The hunter reminded.
Captain America interjected at this point, reaching out to take back his shield.
"Vos, are you there?" he asked.
"Yes, Captain."
"There's a change of plan. You and Delta Team quickly return to our ship and dock it in the hangar bay. The rest of us will lead the prisoners to rendezvous there."
"Understood, Captain," Quinlan Voss said. "Everyone, listen up. We need to act quickly now—"
"Time is of the essence, boys," Captain America declared, raising his shield once again to block the blaster rounds coming their way.
Without further ado, the group began to run, running through several corridors, with Captain America at the rear.
The prisoner rescue team continued to move forward in the castle's maze. At the same time, Captain America's team was also crossing the castle and heading towards a new gathering point.
Despite their difficult situation, Aubrey felt a mixture of emotions when she saw the coil. Padawan recognized the clone captain immediately and she hugged him tightly.
Barris then ordered Aubrey and Coil to follow her closely. Although there was some chaos at the scene, those who were relatively well were gathered by ARC troopers Lightning, Cameron and Lucky and their commander Bligh.
They were joined by the Wasp and Barris, while Aayla, Pierre, and Ant-Man led the battle from the front. The Ultron drones came like a storm, but the Jedi Knights, the Avengers, and the 327th Clone were able to quickly defeat them with unparalleled efficiency.
"Charge! Go forward! Don't stop!" Captain America shouted loudly, motivating the team to keep moving forward.
Wasp shouted from behind, urging them to speed up. As the leaders of the team, Ella and Pierre were responsible for killing those who were alienated by Ultron. Among the people in front of them, some still retained their human appearance, some looked more like a combination of machinery and flesh, and some seemed to have been completely frozen and turned into robots.
"We're almost there," Ella confirmed, scanning the technicians and the directions they had received from Tap and Karen. Then, a large group of prisoners rushed out of the castle and found themselves standing in front of several landing platforms.
"Time is running out, they will catch up soon," Ella warned.
"Use everything we have as cover," Pierre ordered. He used the Force to levitate objects around him and stack them on top of each other to serve as fortifications.
"Kids, follow them closely." The Wasp said hurriedly. She was guiding the taken away children as far away from danger as possible.
Wasp then nodded to the group before flying off in the direction of the others. Defenses were quickly put up, only to be violently rammed open moments later, with many clones firing at any possible opening.
Drones continued to pour out of the castle, flying straight behind the Jedi, Avengers, and clones.
"We must hold our ground," Aayla declared decisively, using the Force to split a drone in half.
In the chaos of the battle, Admiral Tarkin picked up his blaster rifle and fired at the many drones flying around him, adding power to the battle. His eyes revealed a cold and silent look, as if the whole world had lost its vitality. He kept his eyes on the newly installed mechanical arm, which seemed to irritate his emotions. Every time he shot down a drone, his anger burned like fire.
Barriss was equally ruthless, deftly deflecting and retaliating any blaster that came her way, and instantly shattering any approaching drones into pieces as she was pulled by the Force. With each drone destroyed, the glare in her eyes grew stronger, the image of her fallen and deformed comrades still as clear as day in her mind. This only made her movements more ferocious, and each block and swing was filled with anger and sadness.
Aayla now held the lightsaber tightly in both hands, green energy interweaving with blue light, tearing through drones and any creatures unfortunate enough to be Ultronized.
Ant-Man maintained his massive stature, wielding drones left and right while placing Flash and Cameron on his shoulders as additional fire support to cover attacks coming from any direction.
Finally, the two teams successfully reunited.
"Sorry to have kept you waiting," Captain America said, "We encountered some unexpected obstacles."
The appearance of Captain America caused cheers from some clones, and they fought with even greater ferocity.
Several soldiers began to dismantle the roadblock to allow another team to pass.
Captain America and his team received a hero's welcome - their bravery and determination won the respect and admiration of the people. In the cold wind, Ella quickly walked to Captain America and said, "We are successful because of your efforts."
"Okay, but when you reach my level—" Captain America said, only half jokingly.
"Oh, you two are really hopeless." Black Widow rolled her eyes helplessly. She caught a glimpse of Bly winking at her from the corner of her eye, and she couldn't help but smile.
The commander snorted, shook his head with a smile, and continued to launch a fierce fire attack on the drone.
The technician noticed that almost everyone had gathered here. "But not all of our people are here." He covered for a moment, "Vos and Delta Team are still on their way to another ship."
Ella immediately ordered: "Activate the radio of the reinforcements. We need their support."
