Chapter 268: The True and False Monkey King
Chapter 268: The True and False Monkey King
After passing the capital of the Kingdom of Women in Xiliang, the team embarked on the most ups and downs and exciting journey in "Journey to the West" - the disaster of the true and false Monkey King was quietly approaching.
In the original work, Tathagata said, "There are five immortals in the Zhou Tian, namely heaven, earth, gods, humans and ghosts; there are five insects, namely insects, reptiles, hairs, and crickets. This fellow is neither heaven, earth, gods, humans nor ghosts, nor insects, reptiles, hairs, and crickets. There are also four monkeys in the world, which do not belong to the ten categories.
The first is the Lingming Stone Monkey, which understands changes, knows the time of the sky, knows the location, and can move stars and change battles.
The second is the red-hatted horse and monkey, who knows Yin and Yang, understands people and affairs, is good at going in and out, avoids death and prolongs life.
The third one is the monkey, holding the sun and moon, shrinking thousands of mountains, distinguishing between good and bad, and playing with the universe.
The fourth is the six-eared macaque, which is good at listening to sounds, able to understand, know the front and back, and everything is clear.
These four monkeys do not fall into the ten categories, nor do they qualify as the two realms. I see the fake Wukong as the six-eared macaque.
You should know that the so-called Four Monkeys are not just four monkeys, but a general term for four types of monkeys! Among them, there are two red-butted horse monkeys and two long-armed apes in Huaguo Mountain. They are actually composed of four old monkeys in Huaguo Mountain, and are also called the Four Warriors of Huaguo Mountain. However, these four old monkeys have never shown any magical skills such as knowing yin and yang, knowing human affairs, being good at going in and out, avoiding death and prolonging life, holding the sun and the moon, shrinking thousands of mountains, distinguishing good and bad, and manipulating the universe.
So, let's assume that the four monkeys are just a general term for four types of monkeys. But the stone monkey Sun Wukong and the six-eared macaque are different. They were born after a long time of nurturing by heaven and earth, and they have extraordinary abilities that surpass ordinary monkeys!
The reason why Sun Wukong is so powerful is that he is the stone left by the goddess Nuwa when she repaired the sky. This stone has gone through countless disasters, absorbed a lot of the essence of the sun and the moon, and finally gave birth to Sun Wukong, the smart stone monkey.
Luo Te secretly guessed that the six-eared macaque was most likely the result of the careful planning of the Tathagata Buddha. The Tathagata specially cultivated such a six-eared macaque with extraordinary skills and strength comparable to Sun Wukong for the purpose of this catastrophe of the true and false Monkey King. If Sun Wukong obediently went to the West to obtain the scriptures, then the Tathagata would give up this catastrophe; but if Sun Wukong was still stubborn and refused to succumb to the Dharma, then the Tathagata would not mind secretly replacing Sun Wukong with the six-eared macaque.
After all, the six-eared macaque also possessed extraordinary strength and was fully capable of protecting Tang Monk on his journey to the west. Because most of the monsters on the journey to the west were arranged by them, and the powerful ones were basically their own people, and the weak ones were killed with a stick.
Among the four monkeys, only one of the six-eared macaque and the stone monkey appeared, but the long-armed monkey and the red-butted horse monkey were more common, which shows that the stone monkey and the six-eared macaque are stronger among the four monkeys. But there are exceptions. Yuan Hong in the Conferred God War is the long-armed monkey, the most powerful among the seven monsters of Meishan. He is more than eight feet tall, handsome, has a thousand years of Taoism, is proficient in the eight or nine mysterious skills and many kinds of magic, can travel thousands of miles a day, has great magical powers, is highly skilled in martial arts, uses an iron stick, is ferocious by nature, and likes to fight and kill.
There is also Wuzhiqi, a water monster in Chinese mythology. He looks like an ape, with a flat nose, a protruding forehead, a white head and a green body, and fiery eyes. His head and neck are a hundred feet long, and his strength exceeds that of nine elephants. He often stirs up trouble in the Huai River and endangers the people. When Dayu was controlling the flood, the floods in the Huai and Wo water systems could not be solved because of Wuzhiqi's obstruction. Just when Dayu was at a loss, Yinglong came down to earth and pressed Wuzhiqi under Guishan Mountain, helping Dayu to successfully control the flood. From then on, the Huai River flowed into the East China Sea calmly. This Wuzhiqi is the red-butted horse monkey among the four monkeys.
Now Roth was not worried about anything else, but was worried that Tathagata would suddenly make a move. He knew Tathagata's methods and schemes very well, and he was afraid that Tathagata would be cruel enough to kill Sun Wukong in order to achieve some ulterior motives. Once Tathagata succeeded in killing Sun Wukong, and then let the six-eared macaque take Sun Wukong's place, it would be terrible. At that time, they could only swallow their bitterness and could not say anything.
There is also the master of Sun Wukong, Bodhi Patriarch, whose identity is extremely mysterious. In fact, he is the incarnation of Zhunti Taoist, one of the two saints in the West. Tathagata clearly knows that Sun Wukong's superb skills all come from this Bodhi Patriarch, also known as Zhunti Taoist.
However, even though Tathagata had mastered such crucial information, he still made up his mind to replace Sun Wukong. The reason for this is really puzzling but reasonable. The reason is that Tathagata believes that Liu Er Mihou has an unparalleled obedient quality. In this complex and turbulent calamity, an obedient disciple is like a handy weapon that can act and function completely according to the master's wishes.
Tathagata had a grand plan in mind, and he seemed to have seen through the layers of fog and the glorious scene after the end of the catastrophe. He firmly believed that when the catastrophe was over, an obedient six-eared macaque would bring him unimaginable fortune.
Originally, Sun Wukong was a pawn in the plan of Tathagata and the two Western saints, but the Taoist Zhunti favored Sun Wukong. However, Sun Wukong's stubborn character made Tathagata think it would be better to replace him with one of his own. By then, even if the Taoist Zhunti came forward, he would be unable to speak out his grievances.
Roth and Sun Wukong were originally one and the same, and he knew his own affairs. This time, there would be no such thing as Sun Wukong beating the robber to death and then Xuanzang driving Sun Wukong away. This gave the Six-Eared Macaque an opportunity to attack Tang Monk, snatch the luggage and pass for the journey to the West, and run to the Flower-Fruit Mountain to impersonate Sun Wukong.
Finally, in order to figure out who was the fake one, Sun Wukong and Liu Er Mihou went to the South China Sea, Heaven, Dragon Palace, and the underworld, but no one could recognize Liu Er Mihou. Luo Te thought that when they were in the underworld, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's mount Di Ting must have heard the origins of Liu Er Mihou and didn't dare to say anything because it was arranged by Tathagata. He was a Buddhist, so naturally he didn't dare to offend Tathagata Buddha, so he let them go to the Lingshan Mountain in the West. He was not afraid of being retaliated against by the fake Sun Wukong. He was not afraid of retaliation from him, but he was more afraid of the revenge of Tathagata Buddha.
All the Monkey Kings and the Six-Eared Macaque fought on Mount Lingshan, asking Tathagata to identify which one of them was real and which one was fake. Tathagata told a story and then covered the Six-Eared Macaque with a golden bowl. Then Sun Wukong killed the Six-Eared Macaque. I'm afraid it was Sun Wukong who was beaten to death.
The Jade Emperor has practiced for 1,650 kalpas, each of which lasts 129,600 years. One can imagine how profound his cultivation is, otherwise how could he have sat on the throne of the Jade Emperor for so many years? How could he not know the Four Mischief Monkeys and recognize the Six-Eared Macaque? He just doesn't want to be associated with them, because he had already seen through the clues of the Six-Eared Macaque.
But I don’t know how they will reasonably bring in the Six-Eared Macaque this time and have a fight with Sun Wukong, and then the two of them will run to Lingshan to find Tathagata.
