Chapter 328: The Orc of Oblivion Has Appeared
Chapter 328: The Orc of Oblivion Has Appeared
The [Orc of Oblivion] had likely been called by all the roaring that the ogre had done when it was being cornered and tortured by Leon as part of Celeste’s training.
The noise had probably carried deep into the forest and alerted the boss to their presence.
And now the boss had come to them personally, bringing with him a small army of accompanying powerful monsters that emerged from the trees behind him, all of them corrupted and ready to fight.
"BACK AWAY RIGHT NOW," Leon shouted at the two girls with urgent intensity in his voice, "IT’S A LEVEL NINETY BOSS!"
---
[Orc of Oblivion (Boss)]
[Level: 90]
[Talent: Supreme Strength Enhancement (S-Level).]
[Exclusive Talent: Corrupted (A-Level)]
[Combat Power: 5,000,000]
[Details: The strongest being in this realm, receiving most of the corruption of "Oblivion" and turning into this powerful being.]
---
The [Orc of Oblivion] was even larger than the ogres that served it, standing at around four meters tall with a hulking frame that blocked out the light.
It had dark greenish black skin, sharp teeth protruding from its mouth, pointed ears, and the same purple cracks spreading all over its massive body like veins of corruption.
Leon immediately prepared himself to fight and defeat this boss. It seemed to be just as strong as the [Magicless Guardian] had been back in the temple.
But alas, there wasn’t really that much time to react properly.
The orc appeared from behind the trees with terrifying speed for something its size and swung its massive fist directly at Emilia since she was the closest one to him at that moment.
BOOM!
Leon immediately rushed forward as fast as he could, blocking the boss’s strike with his own sword held crosswise as well as his darkness barrier that surrounded his body, the impact shaking the ground beneath his feet.
"Move away right now," Leon shouted at the girls while holding the orc’s fist back, "This is going to get—"
SLAM!
The orc used its leg to slam into Leon’s side before he could finish his sentence, sending him flying backward toward the trees on the other side of the clearing like a ragdoll tossed by a giant.
Boom!
Leon smashed against several trees in a row, destroying each of them on impact as his body went straight through their thick trunks like they were made of paper, sending splinters and wood chips flying everywhere.
But Leon wasn’t actually hurt from the attack at all, his barrier had tanked the entirety of the hit without breaking.
Instead of worrying about himself, he was mostly nervous about what was happening to Emilia and Celeste while he was being launched away.
The two girls were now completely alone in the clearing with the massive orc of oblivion standing right in front of them.
Around a dozen of ogres appearing around them in a loose circle, cutting off any escape routes they might have tried to take.
"Oh no..." Emilia gasped as she looked at the monsters surrounding her, her face going pale.
"But Leon is going to come back and help us, right?" Celeste asked as she tightened her grip on her spear, trying to keep her voice steady, "He’ll return to us at any moment, I know he will!"
"We can’t know that for sure," Emilia’s face darkened with worry, "Maybe he will come back, but if he doesn’t get here soon enough to save us... then we need to defend ourselves however we can until he arrives."
Emilia raised her scepter at that moment, pointing it toward the monsters as she prepared to defend herself.
Her eyes locked onto the orc and the group of ogres that were slowly advancing toward her position.
But there was one important thing that the group had completely forgotten about in the chaos of the boss’s arrival: the armless ogre that Celeste had been using as her training dummy for the past hour.
Leon hadn’t had the time to actually kill it before the orc of oblivion had appeared and attacked them.
Which meant that it was still very much alive, and it was now more eager than ever to kill them for what they had done to it.
With one swift swoop of its remaining limbs, the ogre lifted its leg high into the air and swung it downward with brutal force to try and crush Celeste where she stood.
The phoenix girl turned around at the very last second and dodged the ogre’s foot by a hair’s length thanks to her [Phoenix Wings] flaring to life, barely escaping being flattened into the ground.
She wanted to immediately fly away and get some distance from the monsters, but she stopped herself in the air because she knew deep down that she couldn’t just run away and leave Emilia alone to face all of these creatures by herself.
’But I couldn’t even defeat the regular goblins earlier, so how am I supposed to stop these ogres or that massive orc?’ Celeste thought to herself with frustration and fear mixing in her chest.
Spectral Flames! Divine Beam! Star Comet!
Emilia panicked as she cast all of her strongest spells one after the other at the monsters surrounding her.
She sent waves of magic crashing into them, but the orc of oblivion simply tanked everything she threw at it without even budging an inch from its position.
Its constitution stat was far too high for even Emilia’s powerful magic at this level to hurt it much at all, and so the orc simply advanced forward through her attacks like they were nothing more than a light rain shower.
Then after a few seconds of walking toward her, dark particles erupted around the orc’s arm as it summoned a massive blade made of pure corrupted energy, lifting it high above its head to strike her down.
"Oh shit..." Emilia laughed nervously at the sight of that massive blade, her voice trembling, "I don’t think I can block that at all."
The ogres besides the boss all surrounded her too, their massive fists crackling with dark aura as they prepared to swing with all of their considerable might at the trapped girl.
The situation seemed utterly hopeless at first glance, with Leon being thrown out of the picture and presumably far away, and the monsters surrounding them from every direction with no way out.
Celeste was floating high up in the air thanks to her [Phoenix Wings], which kept her out of the monsters’ immediate reach, but poor Emilia was completely surrounded from everywhere with no way to escape.
And seeing this, seeing her friend about to be killed right in front of her eyes... it was as if a fire had been lit up deep inside of Celeste’s eyes and her very soul, something primal and powerful awakening within her.
"You little shits," Celeste gritted her teeth as fury filled her voice, "You actually think you can kill us just because we’re weaker than you right now, don’t you?"
She focused on her power at that moment, thinking deeply about her special talent, and the strange feeling she had every time she used her [Phoenix Ember] to burn her enemies, and then something clicked inside her mind.
Ding!
