Chapter 74 Etherine
Chapter 74 Etherine
"Good evening?" Hearing Suren's words, the black-haired woman was taken aback. Her gaze swept over the somewhat disheveled white-haired girl and landed on Suren, who was covered in wounds. She shook her head with a smile. "Since those things are your employer's goods, you can leave now. I just hope you won't expose the stronghold of our 'Eternal Oath Knights'."
As the black-haired woman spoke her last words, she raised her right hand, and an abstract symbol of a burning contract appeared in the air. At the same time, a ray of orange-yellow light shot towards Suren, like a bond connecting the black-haired woman and Suren.
Suren simply nodded subconsciously, and the next moment, he felt himself establish a temporary connection with the black-haired woman.
"This is a temporary contract; it will disappear in a week," the black-haired woman explained casually with a smile.
Suren glanced at the white-haired girl, and seeing that she didn't say anything more, he placed his right hand on his chest, bowed, and then turned and left without lingering.
At this moment, the "regeneration" effect on Suren's body had disappeared, but fortunately, the previous wounds had healed to a large extent. However, his clothes were full of holes, making him look quite disheveled, but it did not affect Suren's movement.
Watching Suren's receding figure, a complex expression flashed in the white-haired girl's purple eyes.
"Professor Elisa, why did you let him go? He even stole some important documents." The white-haired girl's voice was calm, but her grip on the dagger tightened slightly. "Besides, that guy's power was so strange that it was better for me to kill him."
Elisa sheathed her longbow and carried it on her back. She shook her head, a hint of seriousness flashing in her eyes: "If I hadn't used the power of the 'Bow of Laws,' you would have been killed by him just now."
The white-haired girl instinctively wanted to retort, but the image from just now kept flashing through her mind—those eyes burning with flames. She opened her mouth, but the words wouldn't come out.
Elisa turned her head, looked at the girl with amusement, and said with a hint of teasing, "What's wrong? Did our little Iserline get hurt?"
"No, this injury is nothing." Aiselin turned her face away, her ears turning slightly red. She subconsciously touched her aching forearm. "I just feel that he is a great threat. After all, he is a 'Deathbird.' Although he is weak now, he may endanger the Knights when he grows up."
"You don't need to worry, he won't stay in the church for long. After all, the church won't allow someone like him to exist," Elisa replied, shaking her head.
She then turned her head and looked at Etherine.
She knew her student's proud nature perfectly well. Looking at Etherine, who was enduring the pain, she chuckled softly, "How long has it been since you met someone your own age who could hurt you?"
Etherine did not answer, but silently watched the direction where Suren had left, and silently tucked the black dagger back into her waistband.
Elisa chuckled softly, ruffled Athena's hair, and gently comforted her, "He has great potential. Those documents are just copies; I moved the originals a long time ago. Besides, letting him go was also Lady Violet's idea."
"What does Mother mean?" Aiselin paused, looking at Elisa with a puzzled expression. "But even if we let him go, it doesn't mean he'll become our ally. He might even join organizations that oppose us, like the 'Gate of Truth'."
"This is what our beautiful little Etherine has to do~" Elisa took Etherine's hand and walked towards the encampment.
"Me?" Aceline was a little confused; she didn't quite understand what Elisa meant.

Meanwhile, Su Lun dragged her weary body back to the door of her residence. Just as she was about to take out her keys, a strange voice exploded in her mind: "I'm not reconciled! Why didn't I succeed! Why!"
As the sound rang out, a strange emotion welled up in Suren's heart. A mix of resentment and regret made Suren almost unable to breathe.
Suren pressed her aching head, forcibly calmed herself, and after taking two deep breaths, finally managed to expel that emotion from her heart.
"Phew..." Suren sighed. He knew that his frequent use of "Ellie's Tears" had aggravated its side effects.
He pushed open the door, turned on the gaslight, then plopped down in a chair, took out the last piece of salted meat sandwich stored in the ring, and began to eat it raw with cold water.
Although the battle just now ended quickly, it greatly depleted Suren's physical strength. If it weren't for the arrival of the black-haired lady, the final outcome would most likely have been that he and the white-haired girl would perish together.
What puzzled Suren was the attitude of the "Eternal Oath Knights" towards him. The black-haired woman hadn't pursued him, perhaps because of his kindness, but she hadn't even mentioned the other documents Suren had stolen, which was quite intriguing.
Suren swallowed the last bite of bread, gulped down a mouthful of cold water, shook his head, and decided to wait and see, no longer thinking about the "eternal vow."
After placing the documents and items he had just received on the table, Suren did not rush to look through the two ritual books. Instead, he first checked the items and picked out the part that belonged to Charles.
After taking inventory, Suren discovered that in addition to the missing "Dead Sea Scrolls," an artifact known as "Tears of the Goddess" was also missing; the rest of the goods were complete.
Suren frowned. When he used [Revelation] to search for the whereabouts, apart from the "Dead Sea Scrolls", all the other items should have pointed to the "Eternal Oath" storage room. There was no reason why one item would be missing.
Did I miss something? Suren closed her eyes and began to recall the situation in her mind.
A moment later, he opened his eyes. In his memory, there was no "Tear of the Goddess" in that storage room.
The only possibility is that the "Tear of the Goddess" has already been transferred by the "Eternal Oath".
Suren shook his head helplessly. The Gate of Truth took the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the Knights of Eternal Oath took the Tears of the Goddess. Mr. Charles's shipment was quite something, attracting the attention of two major organizations at the same time.
Suren shook his head, no longer paying attention to the goods. He picked up the documents that originally belonged to the "Eternal Oath Knights" to see what they had collected in Loren Town.
There are three documents in total. The first two are unremarkable, just materials used by some clergy members in the four major churches to make private profits.
Suren scoffed, saying that none of these things needed to be documented.
He gently opened the third, thicker document, and the first line of text stunned him:
"The Racial Cleansing Incident: In the 103rd year of the Holy Radiance Calendar, the four major churches were established. The remaining races, such as elves and dwarves, were unable to join the churches due to the lack of divine protection and were ultimately wiped out, with all traces of their culture and other remnants being erased."
