Chapter 30 Application Form
Chapter 30 Application Form
At the hospital in Konoha Village, Sakura, Naruto, and Boruto reunited in the ward.
Sakura waited quietly in the ward, her eyes frequently glancing towards the door, awaiting Kakashi's arrival.
As time ticked by, she began to feel anxious and impatient, her fingers unconsciously tapping the edge of the bed as her dissatisfaction gradually accumulated.
Sakura's patience gradually wore thin, and she began to complain under her breath: "You really can't trust Kakashi-sensei's words. He clearly agreed on a time for us to gather, but he was late again. Honestly, he's always like this. He has no sense of time at all..." Sakura muttered to herself as she shook her head helplessly.
Boruto, on the other hand, seemed quite calm: "Alright, we should get used to it. After all, this kind of thing is commonplace for Kakashi-sensei. Let's wait and see."
Just as the two were chatting, Sasuke walked in from outside the ward. Perhaps because of his experience of being stood up by Kakashi every time, Sasuke deliberately showed up much later than the agreed time this time, so as not to wait foolishly in the same place as before.
"Sasuke!" As soon as Sakura saw Sasuke appear at the door of the ward, her mood immediately brightened, and the gloom she felt earlier because of Kakashi's lateness was swept away.
She hurried forward and asked with concern, "Where did you go yesterday? Your injuries haven't fully healed yet, how could you just disappear without a word? I was so worried..."
Faced with Sakura's barrage of questions, Sasuke simply replied, "Something important happened yesterday," and then said nothing more.
Boruto, watching from the side, couldn't help but frown. He sensed that Sasuke seemed colder and more distant than ever before.
But since Sasuke didn't want to talk about it, he didn't press further and could only mutter to himself, "Hopefully it's not something bad..."
Naruto looked at Sasuke with remorse and stammered an apology, "Um... Sasuke, I'm really sorry about the other night. I heard I almost killed you... I'm so, so sorry!"
Upon hearing Naruto's apology, Sasuke felt no joy whatsoever; instead, a nameless rage surged within him, and the veins on his forehead bulged.
He thought to himself, "If you can't apologize, then don't apologize." Naruto's words hit him where it hurt, as if he was showing off his ability to easily end his life.
To Sasuke, Naruto's words had a deeper meaning, taking on a different connotation: "Oh dear, I'm really sorry, but I almost killed you the other night because you were so weak." This interpretation fueled Sasuke's anger even more.
Sasuke coldly replied, "Which bastard said you defeated me? If you want to kill me, you'd better train for another 20,000 years before you start talking big!" After saying that, Sasuke glared fiercely at Naruto.
Boruto, standing to the side and the very embodiment of the idiot Sasuke called him, awkwardly whistled. It was, after all, true...
"Alright, alright, stop arguing. We still don't know why Kakashi-sensei called us here." Sakura quickly stepped in to act as a peacemaker; she didn't want to see them continue arguing.
Just then, a voice suddenly rang out: "Hey, everyone looks so energetic." Everyone looked in the direction of the voice and saw that Kakashi had appeared at the gate at some point.
When Kakashi entered the ward, he immediately saw Boruto lying on the bed with his buttocks swollen up, making him look quite comical.
Kakashi couldn't help but tease Boruto, "Boruto, I heard you got bitten on the butt by a dog yesterday. I didn't believe it at first, but now I do. Do you want me to summon the Eight Ninja Dogs to give you a massage to relieve the pain?"
Boruto broke out in a cold sweat upon hearing Kakashi's words. He quickly waved his hand in refusal, saying, "No...no need, Kakashi-sensei, I really thank you for your kindness!"
He now avoids dogs altogether, let alone having Kakashi summon the Eight Ninja Dogs to massage him.
Sasuke, watching Kakashi tease Boruto, said with some displeasure, "Alright, let's get down to business. We don't have that much time to waste here."
Before Kakashi could even reveal the purpose of their gathering, Boruto, who was lying on the hospital bed, spoke up first: "It's about the Chunin Selection Exams, isn't it?"
The people present first glanced at Boruto, then turned their gaze to Kakashi, wanting to confirm whether Boruto had really guessed the reason why Kakashi had summoned them.
Kakashi looked at Boruto with some surprise: "Boruto, I didn't expect you to be so well-informed. It seems you already know something about the Chunin Selection Exams."
Boruto gently touched his nose, looking a little embarrassed. He explained, "Actually, I had heard about the Chunin Selection Exams before, and after calculating the time, I felt it was about time."
Kakashi didn't keep them in suspense any longer: "I've already recommended you to participate in this Chunin Selection Exam. Here are the application forms." With that, Kakashi pulled out four application forms from behind his back and handed them to the four of them.
Seeing that Boruto had already guessed the gist of the matter, Kakashi stopped beating around the bush and said directly, "Since you've all guessed it, I won't keep you in suspense any longer. That's right, the reason I've gathered you here is indeed for the Chunin Selection Exams."
"I have recommended you to the Hokage to participate in this exam. These are your four application forms." As he spoke, he took out four application forms from behind his back and handed them to the four people present.
He continued, "Let me make this clear first: this recommendation is not mandatory. Whether or not you participate in this Chunin Selection Exam is your own choice. Those who want to take the exam, just sign your name on the application form."
Then Kakashi told them the location and time of the exam five days later.
When Naruto heard Kakashi and the others mentioning the Chunin Selection Exams, he raised his hand and asked, "Kakashi-sensei, what exactly are the Chunin Selection Exams?"
Seeing that Naruto genuinely didn't know, Boruto took the initiative to explain, "The Chunin Selection Exams are an important step in a ninja's promotion. By passing this exam, we can be promoted from Genin to Chunin. This not only means an increase in our strength, but also that we can take on more responsibilities and tasks."
Upon hearing about the possibility of becoming a Chunin, Naruto's eyes immediately lit up, and an excited expression appeared on his face: "Really? Then I definitely have to participate in this Chunin Selection Exam!"
Boruto took the application form from Kakashi and asked in surprise, "Can I participate in this Chunin Selection Exam? I thought I wouldn't be able to." He was clearly somewhat taken aback.
Kakashi replied, "Of course you can. After all, you are also a member of my Team 7, so you are certainly qualified to participate in this exam."
Boruto pondered for a moment, then said, "I remember there's a team battle component in the Chunin Exams. If all four of us participate together, would we have an advantage over teams with only three members?"
Kakashi was somewhat surprised by Boruto's knowledge of the Chunin Exams. He smiled and said, "Boruto, your understanding of the exams is more comprehensive than I imagined. Indeed, it's a little unfair that the four of you are taking the exam together."
"The Third Hokage took this into consideration and decided to balance the difference in numbers by increasing the difficulty of your exams. This will make your team battles more challenging, but it will also be a test of your strength."
Kakashi paused for a moment and then said, "Speaking of which, looking at your current state as a defeated army, it's questionable whether you can even participate in this exam."
Kakashi's gaze swept over the members of Team 7. Of the four members of Team 7, apart from Sakura, the other three were all injured to varying degrees.
Naruto puffed out his chest confidently, waving his arms to show off his recovery: "Of course I'm fine! I'm almost fully recovered. Look, I'm in great shape now."
Kakashi was secretly amazed. The Nine-Tails' regenerative ability was truly remarkable; the wound had healed so quickly.
"Then, use this time to think carefully about whether you want to participate in this Chunin Selection Exam. This is an important choice, and I hope you will consider it carefully." After saying that, he left the ward, leaving everyone with a quiet space to think.
After Kakashi left the ward, Sasuke, Naruto, Boruto, and Sakura were each lost in their own thoughts, their expressions quite different.
Naruto was in high spirits, and his mind was already conjuring up exciting scenes. He imagined himself overcoming all obstacles in the Chunin Selection Exams, defeating all his opponents, including Sasuke.
He even fantasized that in the end, even the Third Hokage would be impressed by his strength and willingly give up the Hokage position to him.
He seemed to see himself as Hokage, wearing the red robe that symbolized his Hokage status, standing on a high point in Konoha, receiving cheers from the villagers.
Sasuke's gaze was fixed on Naruto's back, a cold smile playing on his lips. He thought to himself: Just you wait, Naruto. Once I master Chidori, I will definitely wash away my shame and prove my strength!
Boruto's gaze also turned to Naruto, whom he considered his main rival in the upcoming Chunin Selection Exams.
Sakura looked worried, her expression shifting between light and dark. Watching the three of them so excited, she was torn: "I don't want to. Forget Sasuke and Boruto, I can't even compare to Naruto. I'm already so far behind them. The Chunin Exams and all that..."
They felt particularly heavy-hearted about Kakashi's warning about the increased difficulty of the exam.
Sakura felt increasingly reluctant to retreat, knowing that they were all just inexperienced genin and yet had to endure such harsh conditions.
