Chapter 87 Vegeta's Defeat
Chapter 87 Vegeta's Defeat
Gohan, who was closest to Vegeta, was also knocked unconscious by the power he unleashed. His body went limp and he lay motionless on the ground, as if he had fallen into an endless sleep.
Just as Vegeta was about to finish off the unconscious Gohan, he was shocked to see Gohan's tail quietly growing out. He thought to himself, "When did this guy grow a tail? Oh no! The moon!"
Vegeta looked up at the miniature full moon he had created in the sky. He knew that if Gohan transformed upon seeing the moon, the consequences would be unimaginable, and he might truly fail. A madness and resolve flashed in his eyes as he endured the pain and mustered his last ounce of strength to kill Gohan. However, he was now at his limit; his previous outburst had nearly exhausted all his energy, and his raised hand trembled uncontrollably.
Just at that critical moment, Gohan happened to roll over, and Goku seized the opportunity to shout, "Gohan! Look at the moon in the sky!"
"Gohan! Look at the moon!" Krillin heard Goku's shout and realized what was happening, so he quickly shouted along with him.
"Moon...moon..." Gohan glanced at it groggily, his heart racing instantly, and he transformed into a Great Ape. However, although Gohan's power had greatly increased, he had lost his mind and began to wreak havoc. Each of his attacks could destroy a small mountain, and he easily shattered the surrounding boulders. He smashed deep cracks into the cliffs of the valley, and even Goku was almost hit by him.
But in the end, Gohan saw Vegeta standing alone, and his destructive instincts drove him towards Vegeta. Vegeta, left with no choice, could only desperately dodge back and forth, his figure frantic and disheveled, while anxiously searching for an opportunity to cut off Gohan's tail. A hint of panic and fear flickered in his eyes.
Finally, Vegeta found his opening. As Gohan leaped high to strike him, Gohan's tail inadvertently surfaced. Vegeta seized the opportunity, unleashing a powerful punch that cleaved Gohan's tail in two. Gohan, transforming back into human form mid-air, landed on Vegeta, severely injuring the already weakened Vegeta. Vegeta lay on the ground, weak and powerless, his eyes half-open, unable to stand, as the naked, unconscious Gohan collapsed on top of him. He was like a candle flickering in the wind, his life hanging by a thread.
Krillin dragged his exhausted and wounded body slowly toward Vegeta, his eyes flashing with hatred that seemed capable of devouring Vegeta. He was determined to deliver a fatal blow to Vegeta and avenge his fallen comrades. Every step he took seemed to be filled with endless resentment.
Seeing this, Sun Wukong hurriedly shouted, "Krillin, don't kill him! We are different from him. We are fighting to protect the Earth and our friends, not to kill for the sake of killing! Killing will only bring more hatred. We must break this cycle."
Krillin stopped and looked at Goku with a puzzled expression: "Why? Goku? Vegeta's hands are stained with blood; he has killed many innocent people. Why let him go? His crimes are unforgivable!"
Sun Wukong's expression was solemn as he slowly said, "Krillin, what difference would it make if we killed him? Let him go. Perhaps one day he will realize his mistakes and walk the right path. We should use kindness and tolerance to influence him, not violence to suppress violence."
"I hope you're right..." Krillin sighed, lowered his fist, and said to Vegeta, "You can leave now!"
Vegeta lay on the ground and sneered, "You'll regret this! I'll repay this humiliation tenfold!" Although Vegeta showed no gratitude, Goku's mind was made up. His eyes revealed a firm belief, as if he were guarding a higher moral standard.
Finally, Vegeta regained some strength, stood up, snorted coldly, punched Krillin who was standing next to him, and dragged his battered and broken body into the small spaceship with difficulty.
As the spaceship slowly ascended into the air, emitting a deafening roar, it gradually disappeared from everyone's sight.
Krillin cradled the unconscious Gohan in his arms, his lonely and tiny figure stretched long in the afterglow of the small moon in the sky. His gaze was blank and empty, fixed on the direction Vegeta's spaceship had gone, the ship carrying evil and fear gradually becoming a faint black dot before being swallowed by the endless darkness.
Krillin's arms trembled uncontrollably, and the pale face of Gohan in his arms was now completely devoid of color. The terrifying, brutal battle that had just taken place involuntarily flashed through Krillin's mind. Vegeta's powerful and ruthless figure, like the shadow of a demon, was deeply imprinted on his heart; every attack carried the threat of death, relentlessly ravaging the battlefield. The images of his comrades falling one by one in the battle were like sharp daggers piercing his heart, each blow causing excruciating pain.
Shang Yun walked over, took Gohan from Krillin's arms, and gazed down at Gohan, his heart filled with pain and confusion. This child was so young, who should have been growing up happily under the warm care of his family, running and playing carefree on the grass, learning in a bright classroom, but instead, he had been prematurely dragged into this cruel life-or-death battle, forced to confront bloodshed and fear. Shang Yun's arms tightened unconsciously, as if he wanted to build an unbreakable safe haven for Gohan with his embrace, while also seeking a sliver of self-comfort in this small gesture, however weak and illusory that comfort might be.
Suddenly, a sharp roar, like a razor-sharp blade, shattered the heavy, almost solidified silence. Krillin, like a startled beast, jerked his head up, his eyes instantly sharp as an eagle's, his muscles tensing, instinctively adopting a defensive stance. In that instant, his heart almost stopped beating, thinking Vegeta had returned; fear and tension, like two cold, venomous snakes, coiled tightly around his heart. Only when he saw clearly that it was a plane slowly descending did he breathe a sigh of relief, his tense body relaxing slightly, but the worry in his eyes did not dissipate; he secretly guessed that Bulma and the others had probably arrived.
The plane door slammed open, and Chi-Chi's anxious cry pierced the air like an arrow: "Gohan, my Gohan, how are you?"
