Chapter 56 Son Gohan's Training
Chapter 56 Son Gohan's Training
Left with no other choice, Piccolo still prepared grilled fish for Gohan, and even carefully cut the fish into small pieces.
After the meal, the two became familiar with each other. After all, they were just kids, and Gohan didn't have much resistance towards Piccolo.
"Gohan, from today onwards, your training will be like being in hell." Piccolo's cold face remained expressionless, his dark green skin seemingly radiating an aura of authority. He stood atop a towering sand dune, his figure appearing exceptionally resolute amidst the raging wind and yellow sand, like an unshakeable statue.
Piccolo often arranged for Gohan to train in that vast, scorching desert. The sun hung high in the sky, like a giant fireball radiating endless fury, pouring down its blazing rays without restraint. The endless sand dunes, reflecting the sunlight, shimmered with a blinding golden light, resembling a golden ocean, yet also a merciless inferno. Gale-force winds howled, whipping up clouds of yellow sand, like ferocious beasts rampaging through the desert, creating rolling waves that blotted out the sun, shrouding the entire desert in chaos and mist.
Looking at the terrifying desert before him, Gohan's little face was filled with fear and unease. "Uncle Piccolo, this desert is so hot, I feel like I can't breathe." His voice was weak and powerless in the howling wind, almost drowned out by the howling sand.
Piccolo remained unmoved, his eyes revealing coldness and determination. "If you can't even endure this heat, then you'll only face death when facing the Saiyans. Here, you must learn to find water and orient yourself; these are basic survival skills in the desert."
After Piccolo subjected Gohan to a period of physical training, he abandoned him deep in the desert and disappeared. Gohan stood alone in that sea of sand, surrounded by desolation and death. He looked up at the sky, where the blazing sun relentlessly scorched him, as if trying to drain the moisture from his body. His throat burned with thirst, each swallow bringing excruciating pain. The sand beneath his feet was scorching hot; he could feel the heat even through his shoes, making his feet feel as if they were walking on burning coals.
Gohan's steps grew heavier, each step seeming to drain all his strength. But remembering Piccolo's words, he mustered his spirits and began searching for any possible water, relying on his memory. He struggled to climb the sand dunes, the howling wind whipping sand against his face, stinging painfully. He could only squint, desperately searching for even the slightest clue in his blurred vision.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, he finally discovered a small patch of damp sand in the shady side of a dune. A flicker of joy flashed in Son Gohan's eyes. He quickly crouched down and frantically dug with both hands. Sweat soaked his clothes, streaming down his face and dripping onto the yellow sand, where it was instantly absorbed. After a long and arduous digging, he finally unearthed a little murky water. Son Gohan eagerly scooped up the water, ignoring the mud and sand, and drank it all in one gulp. Although the water was extremely murky, it was like sweet rain, barely sustaining his strength and allowing him to escape this perilous desert situation.
Piccolo had been observing Gohan from the sky. After Gohan escaped danger, Piccolo led him to a dark valley. The surrounding mountains towered into the clouds, and the steep cliffs were covered with jagged rocks, like ferocious beasts overlooking everything in the valley. A suffocating atmosphere permeated the valley, eerie and terrifying.
When the enormous, ferocious monster appeared before Gohan, its massive body almost filled half the valley. Its eyes gleamed blood-red, its mouth spewed out bursts of hot air, and its sharp claws carved deep grooves into the ground with chilling sounds.
Son Gohan stood in front of the monster, his legs trembling slightly.
"Uncle Piccolo, I'm so scared..." Gohan's voice trembled noticeably.
"Gohan, this is your opponent. Don't expect me to help you," Piccolo said coldly from the side. He stood on a boulder, arms crossed, his expression serious and stern, silently watching Gohan and the monster.
Son Gohan took a deep breath and mustered his courage to charge at the monster. At first, his attacks seemed chaotic, each punch tinged with hesitation and fear. The monster easily dodged his attacks, then suddenly swung its claw, creating a whistling sound. Son Gohan narrowly dodged to the side, the sharp claw almost grazing his body.
"Concentrate and observe its movements!" Piccolo shouted. His voice echoed through the valley like a thunderclap, reaching Gohan's ears.
Son Gohan tried to calm himself and began to observe the monster's attack patterns. He noticed that the monster would crouch slightly before each attack, so he patiently waited for his opportunity. Finally, after the monster missed its target, Son Gohan seized the moment, gathering all his strength to unleash a powerful attack. His fist, accompanied by a whistling sound, struck the monster's vital point. The monster let out a painful roar, its massive body swayed a few times, and then it collapsed to the ground with a thud.
Son Gohan looked at the fallen monster, his heart filled with mixed emotions. There was the joy of defeating his opponent, but also a sense of感慨 (gǎnkǎi, a complex feeling of mixed emotions, often including regret or reflection) about the brutal training he had undergone.
This period of arduous training transformed Gohan from a naive child into a resilient warrior. Throughout this challenging and arduous journey, he constantly pushed his limits, both physically and mentally. All of this was solely for the purpose of protecting his beloved Earth and family during the impending Saiyan crisis, giving him the confidence and courage to face the powerful Saiyan enemy.
As time went by, Gohan continued to grow under Piccolo's training. Their training scenarios constantly changed, sometimes in the wilderness amidst raging storms, where icy rain lashed at their bodies like bullets, and muddy roads made every step incredibly difficult; sometimes in the silent forest at night, where various unknown dangers lurked in the darkness, and eerie cries rose and fell, testing Gohan's courage and vigilance.
During a training session in the forest, Piccolo set a trap, tasking Gohan with finding a mysterious bead containing powerful energy within the forest.
Stepping into that deep forest is like entering a demon's realm. Intertwined ancient vines coil like giant pythons, dark shadows resemble lurking demons, mud swamps are like man-eating beasts, and poisonous scorpions in the shadows are like deadly arrows. Danger lurks everywhere, chilling one to the bone.
