"Look, I've caught you." Chu Hang grinned at him, revealing a set of white teeth.
To Yon Rogge, that smile was more terrifying than a demon from the abyss.
Immediately afterwards, Chu Hang tightened his grip slightly with the hand that was on his shoulder.
First came a crisp sound of metal shattering. Yon-Rogge's combat suit shoulder armor, made of a special alloy, shattered into countless fragments, like a biscuit crushed by a hydraulic press.
Then came a sickening sound of bones being crushed. The bones in his shoulder, along with his collarbone and scapula, were brutally molded into a mixture of flesh and bone fragments by this irresistible force.
"what--!"
The intense, bone-deep pain caused Yon Roger to let out a bloodcurdling scream that sounded inhuman.
The four teammates behind him didn't even realize why their captain was screaming before death struck.
The one closest to the rifle only saw a blur before his eyes, and then the energy rifle in his hand suddenly twisted like a pretzel, before the barrel slammed hard into his helmet. Everything went black, and he knew nothing more.
The other felt as if he had been hit by a speeding truck. An invisible force came from all directions, slamming him and his hoverboard into the body of his teammate next to him.
With a dull thud, the two men, piled on top of each other, turned into a blurry mass of flesh and metal, falling from the sky.
The last soldier, witnessing this scene, was terrified and tried to flee without thinking. But as soon as he turned around, he found something gripping his neck. Looking down, he saw it was his energy rifle. The sturdy barrel had somehow been bent into a U-shape, like a collar, tightly around his neck.
He opened his mouth, but no sound came out; the suffocating darkness quickly engulfed him.
Four elite soldiers of the Kree Empire were silently eliminated in less than two seconds using four different methods.
The entire sky was now empty except for Chu Hang and Yong Roger, who was being held like a rag doll, writhing in pain and barely breathing.
All of this happened in the blink of an eye.
On the ground, Carol, who had just flown into the air, hovered there, staring dumbfounded at the scene that could only be described as a one-sided massacre.
She didn't even see how Hang moved.
She only saw Chu Hang disappear from the spot, and then the next second, those Kree soldiers who had been giving her trouble were all turned into corpses.
The incredibly powerful Yong-Rogge, who was like a mentor and a nightmare in her memory, was now as fragile as an infant in Chu Hang's hands.
Chu Hang, carrying Yong-Rogge, slowly landed in front of Carol, a mocking smile on his face.
“Now,” he tossed the limp, lifeless Yon Roger onto the lawn, stepped on his chest, and looked down at him, “we can have a proper talk about what you did to Carol.”
Chapter 72 New Loot
The lawn was wet, smelling of mud and blood.
Yon Roger collapsed to the ground like an empty rice sack. His alloy armor on his chest was cracked and dented, and each breath was accompanied by the soft sound of blood bubbles bursting.
Chu Hang's combat boots stepped on his chest, without much force, yet it felt as if they were welded there.
Carol landed from the sky, her steps unsteady. She stood a few meters away, looking at the man. In her memory, he had been a mentor, a superior, an insurmountable mountain. Now, he was just a lump of mud. The feeling was strange, like waking up suddenly from a six-year-long nightmare.
"Speak," Chu Hang said calmly, as if asking what he wanted for lunch. "Why did you come to Earth? What does the Supreme Intelligence want? And what did you do to her memories?"
Yon Roger coughed up a mouthful of blood mixed with bits of flesh, but a twisted smile appeared on his face.
“She…it’s not her…” he roared with all his might, his voice cracking like a leaky drum, “She is a weapon! She is the property of the Kree Empire! Her power is too dangerous and must be controlled! We gave her a new life, we gave her glory! She should be grateful to us!”
Chu Hang's toes gently twirled on the concave breastplate.
That was the sound of ribs being dislocated.
Yon Rogge's roar caught in his throat, turning into a muffled groan. The excruciating pain turned his entire blue face purplish-red, and his eyeballs bulged outwards due to lack of oxygen.
"I have no interest in your imperialist propaganda." Chu Hang's voice turned cold, each word like a shard of ice. "I ask, you answer. Otherwise, I'll let you experience firsthand what slow decomposition at the molecular level is like. I'll peel every single cell from your body off your bones, and let you watch yourself slowly turn into a pool of protein solution."
He wasn't threatening; he was simply stating a fact.
The term "molecular level" seemed more intimidating than death itself. The madness in Yong Rogge's eyes finally faded, replaced by a primal fear. He looked at Chu Hang, at those calm, unwavering eyes, and finally understood that the man before him was not joking.
“The Supreme Intelligence…it…it sensed the energy out of control…” He gasped for breath, each word causing excruciating pain in his lungs. “It ordered me…to take the ‘weapon’ back and reformat it…As for her memories…we simply helped her unload unnecessary burdens. A soldier doesn’t need so much sentimentality.”
He paused, as if trying to gather some strength, but Chu Hang's toes twitched slightly again.
The excruciating pain made him dare not pause any longer.
“We implanted an energy suppressor in the back of her neck…that thing can suppress her power, and also…filter out her emotions. Make her a perfect, absolutely obedient soldier.”
Energy suppressor.
These five words were like a bullet, piercing Carroll's mind with pinpoint accuracy.
Her body jolted, and she instinctively reached up to touch the back of her neck. Where her fingertips touched, beneath the skin, there was indeed a small, almost imperceptible, hard protrusion.
This is it.
It turns out that her uncontrollable emotions, her fragmented and disjointed memories, and her sometimes strong and sometimes weak, uncontrollable power... were all because of this thing.
She doesn't have amnesia.
Her entire life was artificially altered.
They stole her past and put a shackle on her.
“You…you all…” A scorching rage, hot enough to melt steel, erupted from the deepest recesses of Carol’s heart. The golden cosmic energy was no longer a gentle halo, but exploded like a runaway nuclear reactor. Rings of tangible flames spread from her body, enveloping her like a miniature sun, and the grass beneath her feet instantly turned to charcoal.
The golden light in her eyes surged, her pupils disappeared, leaving only two burning stars. She stared intently at Yon Rogge on the ground, and walked towards him step by step, each step leaving a glowing footprint in the scorched earth.
"I am going to kill you!"
She roared, her voice distorted by extreme rage. She raised her hand, and a ball of destructive energy gathered wildly in her palm, emitting a piercing scream.
Yon Rogers on the ground looked terrified, but beneath that terror lay a morbid pleasure.
See, he wasn't wrong.
This weapon is indeed out of control. It only deserves to be caged or completely formatted.
Just as Carol was about to raise her hand, a hand gently rested on her shoulder.
The hand was powerless and devoid of any warmth. Yet, the rampaging golden energy emanating from Carol subsided instantly, as if doused with liquid nitrogen at -100 degrees Celsius. The rage that had given her a splitting headache and the urge to destroy everything was also gently soothed by a cool, calming will, like a tamed wild beast.
“Killing him would be too easy on him.” Chu Hang’s voice rang in her ears, not loud but very clear. “Besides, a living Kree commander is much more useful than a corpse. Revenge is best enjoyed cold.”
Carol gasped for breath, her chest heaving. She looked at Chu Hang's unusually calm profile, the golden light in her eyes slowly fading as reason gradually returned to her mind.
Yes, kill him, and then what? The Kree Empire will send more Yon-Rog, an endless stream.
Chu Hang released his grip, walked to Yong Rogge's side, and squatted down. Ignoring the other's eyes filled with hatred and fear, he reached out and felt around the back of Yong's neck, then used two fingers like iron clamps to gently pinch him.
With a barely audible click, a silver metal piece the size of a fingernail was ripped from Yon Rogge's flesh. It was a Kree military communication and identification device, integrating complex biometric information.
"Alright, now it's my turn." Chu Hang stood up and wiped the bloodstains from the metal plate on his pants.
He looked at Carol, who had a blank expression, and suddenly smiled.
Want to see a magic trick?
Before Carol could answer, Chu Hang's body began to change.
His height was increasing, his shoulders were broadening, and the contours of his face were being reshaped through writhing movements. His bones emitted a faint, teeth-grinding grinding sound, his skin color changed from a healthy yellow to the blue characteristic of the Kree, and his casual clothes, like melted wax, reassembled into the dark green Kree standard combat suit, even perfectly replicating the cracks he had crushed on his shoulder armor.
Less than three seconds.
A man who looked exactly like Yon Roger, who was lying on the ground, appeared before Carol. Not only his appearance, but even the coldness and arrogance in his eyes that belonged to a high-ranking officer were imitated perfectly.
“Morphology.” Chu Hang, or rather “Yong Rogge,” said in the deep, hoarse voice of Commander Kree, “a very useful little trick, especially when it comes to deceiving people.”
Carol opened her mouth, but couldn't utter a single word. She knew Chu Hang could transform, but witnessing this flawless scene, where even his aura and expression were perfectly replicated, still deeply shocked her. This wasn't just a disguise; it was creation.
"Yon-Rog" walked onto the lawn, picked up a hoverboard that hadn't been damaged in the previous battle, and stepped onto it. He activated the communication device in his hand.
A faint holographic projection unfolded before him, revealing the head of a Kree officer wearing a helmet whose face was obscured.
"Commander, report the situation." The voice on the other end was urgent, and the hum of the spaceship's engines could be heard in the background.
“Target captured.” “Yong-Rog” reported in concise military language, his voice tinged with suppressed exhaustion and pain. “Fors’ energy was unstable and she resisted fiercely. The entire squad was wiped out. I myself was also seriously injured. Now, I will escort her back to Hala to face the judgment of the Supreme Intelligence.”
The lie was perfectly crafted. The fact that everyone was killed explained why he was the only one left, while his serious injuries provided the perfect excuse for his subsequent "disappearance" or slowed movements.
"Roger that, Commander. Should we dispatch a support fleet to pick you up?"
“No need.” “Yon Roger” interrupted him coldly. “This is my mission, and my disgrace. I will take her back myself.”
After saying that, he cut off the communication immediately, without giving the other party any chance to ask any further questions.
After doing all this, he jumped off the hoverboard, his body wriggling unsettlingly before returning to Chu Hang's original form.
"Alright." Chu Hang clapped his hands and tossed the communicator into his pocket. "Right now, the Kree Empire thinks you've been captured and taken back, and the commander responsible for escorting you is seriously injured and is returning alone. We have plenty of time before they discover the truth."
He looked at Carol with a hint of encouragement in his eyes.
"Enough for you to truly learn how to use your own power. And enough for you to personally dismantle that damned suppressor."
The backyard of Maria's house.
The real Yong-Rog had all his joints and vocal abilities sealed by Chu Hang using a special method, and was thrown into the corner of the tool shed like a lifeless piece of wood.
Chu Hang sat comfortably in the recliner, his eyes closed, as if taking a nap in the afternoon.
In his mind, a voice that only he could hear rang out precisely on time.
[Weekly ability copying cooldown is complete.]
A new round of replication is ready.
Chu Hang's consciousness slowly sank into the system interface. He turned his gaze to the half-dead Commander Kerry in the tool shed.
[Target Scanned: Yon Rogge (Kree Elite)]
[List of replicable capabilities:]
[1. Kree Physiology (Blue Race, Enhanced Physical Fitness and Environmental Adaptability)]
2. Interstellar Tactical Command (Tier A, Kree Military Standard Tactical Theory)
3. Energy Weapon Proficiency (Rank B, skilled in using Kree-style energy weapons)
[4. Willpower Barrier (Rank A, strong mental resistance and willpower, able to resist most mental control and illusions)]
Chu Hang's eyes quickly scanned the list.
First, the Kree physiology. It's no longer of any use to him; his body, after incorporating the Super Soldier Serum, the Healing Factor, and cosmic energy, has long surpassed the capabilities of an ordinary Kree.
Second, interstellar tactical command. It sounds cool, but Chu Hang's greatest tactical advantage is his foresight; he knows where the plot is going, which is more effective than any tactical theory.
