Chapter 5: The Report
Chapter 5: The Report
After leaving the room, without any hesitation, Cinderella stood by the window of the Astronomy Tower and slightly shrugged her shoulders, as a pair of red bat wings slowly unfurled from behind her.
With a slight slap, her body was suddenly lifted off the ground and flew into the air.
Don't get me wrong, it's not that she doesn't want to teach her students properly, but that she has some things to do today.
That means killing two people to fulfill a promise made to someone else.
Catherine has already obtained information about the two people she wants to kill from Edward.
One of them is a King-level swordsman of the Water God School named... whatever his name is doesn't matter, he's a short man... who usually just guards the door of the First Prince's room.
The other one was a fire-type king-level mage... Cinderella didn't pay attention to his name; she usually just guarded the door of the first prince's room.
It could be said that these two were the First Prince's personal guards... which means that if the two of them were eliminated, the First Prince would not have many strong men under his command.
In this way, after the king's death, Edward's second prince faction could easily succeed in a coup...
But what does this have to do with me?
Anyway, I only killed two people to fulfill my promise. Cidlin has absolutely no burden when it comes to killing. Please... what kind of values are you talking about to a creature that drinks human blood and is not even the same race as humans?
Whether human or other race, even her own kind, Cinderella didn't care much... Life is fleeting, and in her previous world, she didn't care much about other people's lives except for her friends.
It is precisely because of their cold-bloodedness that they constantly crave warm blood.
Sidlin gave a self-deprecating laugh in mid-air.
The magical city of Sharia is not far from the capital of the Kingdom of Lanoa. Sidlin could see the city shimmering with light in the distance after flying for just over an hour.
It must be said that the Middle Ages were better than the modern era in this respect, at least the light pollution wasn't as severe... Back on Earth, Cinderella had already accidentally bumped into skyscrapers many times due to light pollution.
As the city drew ever closer, Cidline slowed down slightly and descended slowly toward the royal city of Lanoa.
"Miss Sylvania." As she landed precisely in an open window, the Second Prince Edward nodded gently to her.
"You got here so quickly?"
"It's not like this is the first time you've seen this," Catherine said, shaking her head. "Isn't it normal for vampires to be able to fly?"
"We don't have any vampires here," Edward said, shaking his head. "So, are you ready?"
"Of course," Catherine nodded. "The blood I got today tasted really good."
"How will this help you in battle?"
"No, not at all." Catherine shook her head. "It just made me feel a little better."
As she spoke, she walked to the door of the room, which was a very small guardhouse, clearly a place that Edward had specially prepared for her to sneak into.
"Oh, right." As if remembering something, she turned slightly to look at Edward: "Should we kill those guards?"
"They are all soldiers of the kingdom... there is no need to harm them."
"Is that so?" Cidelyn nodded gently upon hearing this. "Then I'll be careful."
As she spoke, she pulled her hood up slightly to cover half her face, then reached out and opened the door to the room.
Outside the door was the palace corridor, which was rather dim, with only faint candlelight illuminating the surroundings.
As if it were Edward's arrangement, Catherine did not encounter any patrolling soldiers along the way, and even if she did, she easily hid in the darkness and avoided them.
It seems most of the palace soldiers are indeed his men now… Sidlin hadn’t expected Edward to actually have some ability, considering he was just a destitute wandering prince when she first met him…
As a result, after returning to China, he seemed to have figured something out and rose rapidly.
Alright... I'm getting closer to the First Prince's room... I should focus my attention on my goal.
Sidlin paused slightly after reaching a corner, then took a deep breath... As she moved, her heartbeat slowed slightly, and her breathing became shallower, but her movements did not falter at all.
She peeked out from around the corner and looked toward the door of the First Prince's room.
Two figures were standing there quietly.
One of them had a sword hanging at her waist... clearly the Sword King of the Water God School; the other stood silently holding a staff... she was clearly the Fire Saint-level mage...
It has to be said that for a prince of a small country like Lanoa to have a royal-level bodyguard is quite impressive.
But for myself...
Cinderella bit her finger slightly, and a few drops of blood flowed from her fingertip.
It's still not quite enough.
"Buzz!"
Catherine stepped lightly out of the corner, then flicked her right hand.
The crimson blood transformed into faint threads in the air, as fine as hair, sweeping from one side of the corridor to the other.
"?!" Before the mage could react, the swordsman of the Water God School had already noticed something was wrong. He subconsciously reached out and gripped the hilt of his sword, and time around him slowed down in an instant.
Something was sweeping across the corridor from that end. Although he couldn't see it, he could sense it. Was it some kind of magic? Or battle aura?
But whatever it is, it is an extremely dangerous thing!
In the slow passage of time, he could see the lit candles being gently stirred without going out, the picture frames hanging on the wall being brushed across the middle without falling, and the standing statues being gently stroked without toppling over...
It wasn't that the thing was too weak... but rather that it was too fast... so fast that the swordsman's teammate, the mage, hadn't even reacted yet, and so fast that even though the swordsman had his hand on the sword, he couldn't draw it.
Damn it... move faster!
No matter how much he roared in his heart, he was ultimately unable to draw the sword. He gripped the hilt tightly, but it was all in vain.
The red thread drew near, and death was imminent. Only then did the swordsman see the owner of the red thread clearly—a silver-haired girl. She revealed her face, which was covered by a hood, and her face was expressionless.
"Pat...pat."
Two soft sounds followed by a heavier "thump," and with that sound, the candles went out one by one, the picture frames fell one by one, and the statues slowly tilted over.
It seemed the agreement had been easily fulfilled... Cidelyn Sylvania ignored the chaos in the corridor before her, simply nodded slightly, and then walked away.
What happened next was none of her business; after all, she was just there to fulfill a promise.
The next day, everyone in the Lanoa Palace learned of the sudden death of the First Prince's personal bodyguard, but the murderer left no trace, not even a drop of blood.
