Chapter 549 Giant
Siren was curious about what Dumbledore would say to Snape and the others, so he didn't leave immediately but waited for a while at the headmaster's office door.
Unfortunately, none of them liked to shout like Fudge; the corridor was quiet, and you couldn't hear anything.
A few minutes later, heavy footsteps came from behind the wall.
Xilun quickly walked to the middle of the corridor, pretending to be waiting for the stairs to turn.
The staircases at Hogwarts are not fixed; they are constantly moving, and you have to wait for them to reach the correct position to go downstairs.
A few seconds later, the dripping stone beast jumped to the side again, and a huge figure emerged from behind it.
It was indeed Hagrid; he was looking down, lost in thought.
"Hey, Hagrid," Siren shouted, waving vigorously.
Hagrid, who was deep in thought, was startled; he hadn't expected Siren to still be there.
"Shouldn't you be in class?" Hagrid said, feigning seriousness. "Don't forget you're in fifth grade now, and you're about to take the 0.WL exam."
"I don't know what's going on, but the stairs seem to really not like going up to the eighth floor today. I've been waiting here for ages," Xilun explained.
"Besides, this is Potions class, and Snape is still inside." He then pointed in the direction of the headmaster's office, indicating that it wouldn't make a difference if he went back to the classroom.
Just then, the descending stairs creaked and came to a stop in front of the two of them.
"Ah, they're finally here." Xilun hurried over.
"What does Headmaster Dumbledore want with you?" he asked.
"He told me to pick up Orim—" Hagrid, who was inattentive, was about to say something when he immediately shut his mouth.
"Don't ask, Celen, it's top secret, I can't tell you," Hagrid said, somewhat angrily.
"Okay." Xiren shrugged and didn't ask any more questions.
The two parted ways in the foyer; Hagrid walked straight out of the castle, while Siron stopped at the top of the stairs leading to the underground classroom.
He was still thinking about what Hagrid had just said.
Although Hagrid quickly realized what was happening, he still revealed many key details, such as the Orim Maxim he was now picking up.
What can two half-giants do? They can't possibly strengthen the friendship between Hogwarts and Beauxbatons through a marriage alliance.
There is only one answer: giants.
Dumbledore sent them to win over the giants, hoping to keep them neutral.
But Xilun always felt that this arrangement was a bit redundant.
Most giants are brutal and bloodthirsty, but they are not very intelligent, almost no more so than trolls.
This means that the Order of the Phoenix will find it difficult to offer incentives that meet their expectations.
But Death Eaters can; as long as they promise to kill at will, they can easily win over most of the simple-minded giants.
From Siron's perspective, it would be better to nip this threat in the bud before Voldemort completely gains control of most of the giants.
I've heard that all the giants that exist are concentrated in one tribe. With Dumbledore's power—well, okay, Dumbledore couldn't possibly do that.
Xilun looked up and glanced up at the building.
Dumbledore could certainly kill all the giants, but he couldn't do it. Besides Hagrid being a half-giant, doing so would cause other magical creatures (centaur, merman, werewolf) to instantly turn against Voldemort.
Of course, there is a way. He can disguise himself as Voldemort, which is not difficult for Dumbledore either. The difficulty lies in getting him to agree.
Xilun had no confidence in persuading the other party to do such a thing.
He returned to the underground classroom because Snape was still in the headmaster's office and had not come out. Before leaving, he asked everyone to quietly brew their own potions.
But the students obviously wouldn't listen that way.
As soon as he approached the door, Xilun heard a buzzing voice coming from inside, but the sound stopped abruptly the moment Xilun pushed open the door.
Until someone mustered up the courage to look up and realized that the person who entered was not Snape—
"Oh, Sirius, you scared me to death—I thought Snape was back!" Dean Thomas said, patting his chest with lingering fear.
His words made more people look up, and the underground classroom became lively again.
"How are you, Siron? Are you alright?" Harry asked.
"Of course not." Xilun shook his head.
"What do they want from you?" Ron asked.
"Is it related to the Mystic?" Hermione asked, turning her head curiously from the front. "What has the Ministry of Magic decided to do about them?"
"In fact, the Ministry of Magic won't do anything," Siron said softly.
"Don't be ridiculous!" Hermione didn't believe it at all and immediately said, "Now that the Mystic has returned, the Ministry of Magic can't just sit idly by."
"What I mean is, Fudge has been denying that Voldemort has been resurrected." Siron briefly recounted what had happened in the headmaster's office.
"That's how it is. Fudge asked me some questions, but he was clearly unwilling to believe that Voldemort had returned, and in the end, he and the headmaster parted on bad terms."
"But—" Hermione stammered, "you and Headmaster Dumbledore both saw him with your own eyes, didn't you?"
"That's true, but no one else saw it, and we didn't take any pictures of Voldemort or anything," Siron said. "So as long as he vehemently denies it, the two of us can cover it up—"
"Of course, Fudge did the same thing. I'm sure it won't be long before the newspapers are full of articles about Dumbledore being a senile old man."
Harry, Ron, and Hermione were all stunned. Hermione even forgot to stir her cauldron, and the potion inside suddenly overflowed, forming a large pile of purple foam at the rim of the cauldron.
"Oh no—" Hermione hurriedly waved her wand to clean up the foam and the potion inside, which ruined all her previous work.
Harry was equally incredulous. He had always thought Fudge was just a little arrogant and conceited, but essentially a kind person. He never imagined that Fudge would disregard the impending danger for the sake of his official position.
Ron was similar. Although he had a vague idea of Fudge's character after Percy was taken away by the Ministry of Magic, he never expected that Fudge's bottom line would go so far.
Was he deliberately concealing the news of Voldemort's return to inflict another wizarding war on Britain?
"Headmaster Dumbledore certainly wouldn't agree to him doing this."
"Yes, but what good is it if he disagrees?" Siren said helplessly. "Fudge is the Minister of Magic, while Dumbledore is just a headmaster. At most, he can only organize the Order of the Phoenix in his own name."
