Chapter 537 Dumbledore Returns
In the time that followed, in Charlie's room on the third floor of the Burrow, the Weasley children were having a heated discussion about the battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort.
Ron believed that the scene was definitely littered with Killing Curses, and that every swing of their wands by either side carried a hidden danger.
But Fred and George had different opinions.
"A wizard as great as Dumbledore would certainly not use such a simple and crude curse as the Killing Curse." George leaned back on the creaking old bed, his hands behind his head.
"Think about it." Fred sat cross-legged on the floor, his eyes gleaming. "That's Dumbledore. I bet he knows at least ten powerful spells that we've never even heard of."
"Maybe it's the kind of magical spell that appeared in the Triwizard Tournament," George said. "Remember, Siron said that kind of magic could turn people upside down."
"Maybe he summoned a flock of fire-breathing phoenixes, or turned the entire ground into a flowing syrup swamp."
"Voldemort was stuck with every step he took, and he also had to watch out for the honey syrup dripping from above—"
Fred and George got more and more excited, but their stories became increasingly outrageous. They even said that Dumbledore would turn the cockroach string into a live one and let it fly into Voldemort's mouth, where it would turn into a new cockroach string after Voldemort ate it.
Ron rolled his eyes. "Come on, that's a battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort, not a product demonstration by Weasley's Wizarding Tricks."
"I think it's the summoning of lightning," he said. "Like the brave Piwit, who at the last moment summoned a waterfall of silvery lightning that instantly wiped out all the undead in the treasure cave."
"Who's the brave one?" Hermione asked, puzzled. She quickly recalled all the books she had read: Famous Wizards of the Middle Ages, List of Great Wizards, Spell Innovators and Masters—she was certain that the name George had just mentioned was not in any of them.
“Brave Piet,” Ron explained. “It’s a story from the Tales of the Bard, which we read when we were very young.”
Hermione understood now. It must be another fairy tale book from the magical world, just like the so-called "Tales of Beedle the Bard," which was not within her reading scope.
"In my opinion, you shouldn't focus all your attention on those flashy and powerful spells." Hermione shook her head, thinking that George's behavior of taking fairy tales seriously was a bit childish, and said very seriously, "Dumbledore's strength lies not in how much magic he knows, but in his ability to bring ordinary magic to its fullest potential."
"So you mean Dumbledore would yell 'Faint' at the Man of Darkness?" Fred couldn't help but laugh as soon as he finished speaking, as if he had told a terrible joke.
"Hmm—it could also be the Exorcist's Mechanism." George raised his hand, making a gesture as if throwing away his wand, which made everyone burst into laughter.
But Hermione didn't laugh.
“Why not?” she said. “In some cases, these two spells are no weaker than the Unforgivable Curse. If you don’t believe me, ask Sirius and see how Dumbledore dealt with Voldemort.”
At her prompting, everyone looked toward Xiren, who was at the very back.
"I don't know." Xilun shrugged. "After he rushed over, he had Phoenix bring me back, and I don't know what happened after that."
"However—" Sirens paused for a moment before continuing, "When he helped me fend off Voldemort's spell, he used a Transfiguration Charm."
He thought of the giant arm made of mud, leaves, and pebbles—that thing must be a Transfiguration spell.
"You'll see," Hermione said.
In this room, Harry was probably the only one who wasn't interested in the topic; he was too worried about Sirius and had been sitting there absentmindedly ever since.
Although Sirius Black had said that he was likely still alive, Harry found it difficult to remain calm until he saw him.
Alastor Moody had already sent members of the Order of the Phoenix to find him, but it wasn't easy, because Britain was too big, and they had no idea where Bellatrix had kept Sirius Black.
Perhaps Dumbledore knew—but he was fighting Voldemort at that moment.
Siren is also waiting for Dumbledore.
No one knows what happened in that swamp after he left. He was brought back almost two hours ago, but Dumbledore still hasn't shown up.
Half an hour later, a series of rapid footsteps suddenly came from downstairs.
Harry, who was closest to the window, immediately stood up and looked outside.
"It's Dumbledore!" he exclaimed.
Everyone immediately stood up and hurriedly ran downstairs.
While on the stairs, Siren wondered if Dumbledore would kill Voldemort this time and send him back to wander the forests of Albania.
But when they arrived in the living room and saw Dumbledore with a somber expression, Sirius knew he had been overthinking things.
But thinking about it, it makes sense. Voldemort, that cowardly guy, would definitely run away after realizing he was at a disadvantage.
If he had focused on escaping, Dumbledore might not have been able to catch him; otherwise, the Wizarding Wars of over a decade ago wouldn't have lasted so long.
However, Dumbledore seemed to be in good condition. Even after fighting Voldemort for nearly three hours, he was still able to give orders to the Order of the Phoenix members who remained there in an orderly manner.
"Kingsley, go back to the Ministry of Magic right now and tell Fudge the location I just mentioned."
"I'll go right away." Kingsley Shackle nodded and immediately left the Burrow.
"Alastor, please go to the Hog's Head in Hogsmeade and tell Hagrid he can move now."
Alastor Moody walked out with a limp.
"Remus, you and Dedalow go to Berkshire. I suspect poor Sirius is being kept locked up in Lestrange's old house—"
"I'm going too!" Harry couldn't wait to squeeze through the crowd before Dumbledore could finish speaking.
"Professor Dumbledore, let me go with them to find Sirius."
"Harry—" Dumbledore turned to look at him, pondered for a moment, and said, "I'm sorry, Harry, I cannot grant you this request."
"But Professor—"
"I understand you're worried about your godfather." Dumbledore raised his hand and gently placed it on Harry's shoulder. "But Harry, have you considered that your safety is also Sirius's biggest concern? I hope you can stay here and not go anywhere before school starts."
Harry wanted to say he didn't care, but Dumbledore didn't give him the chance. He nodded, and Remus and Dedalow immediately went outside and Apparated away.
