Chapter 23 is awesome!
Chapter 23 is awesome!
Zhen Tianzun didn't say anything immediately. After a moment of silence, he raised his hand and pointed to the section of the high platform that had been cut down at the edge of the testing field: "Try that one again."
The vector looked in the direction he pointed. The place originally looked like part of an old factory conveyor belt. Half of the foundation had been leveled, and there was a small height difference at the edge, not too exaggerated, enough for her to judge whether this assault boat was just running close to the ground or could do something else.
"Are you trying to see if I'll just rush down and smash to pieces?" she retorted.
Zhen Tianzun chuckled, "I want to see just how many more things are wrong with this thing of yours."
The vector clicked its tongue and transformed back into vehicle mode.
She didn't act recklessly right away. She first steadily increased the speed, skimming along the ground. Only when she was close to the broken section did she instinctively accelerate.
She had only wanted to see if she could glide across smoothly.
But just as it reached the edge, the bottom magnetic levitation components and the dorsal air deflector seemed to have caught up with some kind of rhythm beforehand, and the hull lifted slightly, directly leaving the ground and bringing a short, sharp rise.
Even the vector itself was momentarily stunned.
The moment she was lifted off the ground didn't panic her.
In its rush boat mode, the center of gravity is incredibly stable. Once the backflow deflector and bottom suspension connect, the entire boat slides forward with the momentum of the charge, only to return to the ground a few seconds later.
After she brought the boat to a stop, the whole machine was quiet for two seconds.
"...Did I just fly?"
Zhen Tianzun stood behind, his tone as calm as possible: "Strictly speaking, it doesn't count as flying."
He paused for a moment, then added, "It's a short-duration climb plus gliding."
The vector was automatically translated again.
...Anyway, it's still pretty awesome.
She transformed back into a robot, her optical glasses shining an exaggeratedly bright light.
"Isn't this a bit too outrageous?"
Zhen Tianzun looked at her, his gaze lingering between the air deflectors on her back and the structure of her legs. He took a deep breath: "Ordinary civilian armor doesn't need to be made this way in terms of mobility."
He paused, then added, "If you were to register this for civilian use, it would be somewhat deceptive."
The vector was taken aback by this statement, then looked down at the guide vanes behind it that were not yet fully retracted, and the excitement in its heart was amplified.
"So what does this mean?" She looked up at him, "High-end civilian clothing?"
Zhen Tianzun glanced at her, too lazy to comment on her obviously unprofessional statement.
"It's hard to say what it is yet." He kept his tone as even as possible, his gaze returning to the most sensitive structural lines on her body. "But one thing is basically certain."
"What?"
"There's no need to make a regular machine this mobile."
He paused, his gaze sweeping from her legs and waist down to her left forearm and the drainage structure on her back. His brows were slightly furrowed, and he was clearly more focused than before.
"If this configuration is just for aesthetic purposes, then there's probably a problem with the design of its computer module."
Vector's lips twitched: "Who are you calling a jerk?"
Zhen Tianzun ignored her statement and continued:
"Mobility, hover feedback, short-duration lift—all lean towards tactical use. In that case, you'd better check it yourself."
The vector was taken aback: "Inspect what?"
"Armed systems," Zhen Tianzun said curtly, "or at least, see if there are any reserved weapon connection points."
Yin Xiang looked down at his arms, and a mixture of doubt ("No way!") and excitement ("If it really is true, then this is amazing") welled up inside him.
"...Don't scare me." She said this, but her hand had already risen up.
Zhen Tianzun stood to the side with his arms crossed, his tone tinged with amusement, "Why don't you try and see?"
Yin Vector stared at his arm for two seconds, then tried to shift his attention to the more complex area.
Suddenly, the outer armor of the left forearm emitted a very faint metallic scraping sound.
She herself was stunned for a moment.
Before she could react, the structures of her left forearm and hand began to contract and deform simultaneously. Energy pulses lit up along the internal guide rails, and finally, with a "whoosh," an exaggeratedly thin energy blade popped out.
The blade was cold and gleaming, straight, and when she stood with her arms hanging naturally, the blade almost reached the ground.
The entire vectoring unit went silent for a second.
"By the grace of the gods!"
She glanced down at the long blade that had sprung from her left arm and instinctively raised her hand. The edge of the blade traced a thin, cold blue light with the movement, surprisingly light, yet not at all brittle.
"...That's so cool!"
Zhen Tianzun stood to the side, ignoring her question about how cool it was, and looked down at the long blade, his gaze a little more somber than before.
After a pause, he spoke calmly, "...As expected."
The vector turned to look at him: "What, 'as expected'?"
"As expected, it's not civilian equipment," Zhen Tianzun concluded. "Ordinary civilian assault boats wouldn't hide this level of close-combat system."
The vector looked down at the slender energy blade hanging to the ground, raised its hand and tried to swing it gently.
The blade was so light that there was almost no resistance, and when it cut through the air, it only produced a very faint energy hum. It was so sharp that she herself subconsciously paused.
"Wow." She stared at the long blade, her optical lenses gleaming fiercely. "Isn't this thing just too good to handle?"
Zhen Tianzun glanced at her, staring at her excited expression, as if she were about to jump for joy: "If the knife doesn't feel good in your hand, are you just keeping it to frustrate yourself?"
The vector automatically filtered out the missing information in his half-sentence, leaving only the useful information in the brain module.
It feels good to the touch.
Then you can learn.
She looked up at Zhen Tianzun and said without any beating around the bush, "Isn't yours pretty much the same?"
Zhen Tianzun raised an eyebrow and glanced at her: "In what ways are they about the same?"
"The one on your right arm," Vector gestured honestly. "Isn't there a blade between the cannon and the arm? Since this one is part of my weapon, could you teach me how to use it?"
Zhen Tianzun stared at her for two seconds, then belatedly realized that he was not at all surprised by her behavior of wanting to use whatever she had just discovered.
"You really don't waste time."
The vector generator retorted confidently, "What else? Just leave it there to look at?"
Zhen Tianzun scoffed.
"We'll talk about it when we get back. Let's get to know all this new stuff you've come up with today."
