“Violet, I have a feeling that I will soon find the meaning and end of my journey… I have forgotten some things during my aimless journey, but the Prophet can help me find them again.”
"Really?" Violet glanced at Latis, whom the Moth Warrior was pointing at. Whether she was recalling the bizarre scene of Thomas on the water earlier or something else, she couldn't help but tap the Moth Warrior on the head and said irritably:
"Then why don't you hurry up and continue your journey!"
"Oh, oh..." The Moth Warrior scratched his head and ran to Latis's side, glancing back at Violet, and whispered:
“Messenger, let’s continue our search for our next destination. Violet said the flowers aren’t here…”
“I can see that,” Latis said with a chuckle, leaning back in his chair. “By the way, aren’t you really considering saying something to her?”
"What did you say?" The moth warrior was taken aback.
Latis raised an eyebrow and said:
"A handsome young man like you who understands love so well usually speaks very little, just in case a girl falls in love with you or something like that...?"
"..."
The moth warrior felt a jolt in his head and couldn't help but cover his head and let out a long sigh.
……
……
"After this extraction, the power of light within you will be almost depleted."
Latis, holding the Dream Nail, looked at the moth warrior before him and hesitantly offered a reminder:
"Moreover, I also have a vague feeling that after the light power was recovered, the light power scattered underground was basically eliminated."
“After all, I am the node of these forces of light, I know that.” The Moth Warrior shook his head and said, “If there were no more chaotic forces in this underground place, perhaps it would be much more peaceful, and then I might not have to continue fighting.”
"If that's how you see it, that's fine too..."
Latis pondered for a moment, sighed, and swung the Dream Nail.
The dazzling light engulfed everyone. In the last second before entering the dream, Latis looked at the relaxed face of the Moth Warrior and suddenly wondered what the power that had grown along the journey meant to the Moth Warrior.
Is it a weapon in battle, or a burden to bear?
With this thought in mind, Latis slowly closed his eyes.
……
"Moth Warrior!"
"Moth Fighter, Champion!"
"Long live the Moth Warriors!"
The cacophony instantly made Latis realize where he was. He opened his eyes, glanced at the noisy audience outside, and couldn't help but rub his forehead, muttering to himself:
"Good grief, here we are again at the Fools' Arena..."
Returning to the familiar place, he didn't feel any particular emotion, since he didn't like the Fools' Arena much either. He was just curious about the monsters who had won the championship in history.
However, it seems that now is the time for the Moth Fighter to win the championship?
Latis scratched his head, peeked out of the waiting area for a moment, but did not see the Moth Warrior who should have been holding the trophy and enjoying applause.
"Strange...where did they go?"
He circled around but couldn't find any trace of the Moth Warrior. Just as he was scratching his head, wanting to lean against the wall to think about the current situation, he suddenly noticed a figure sitting in the shadows in the corner.
No... it was just a moth's shadow.
Latis took a closer look and was immediately taken aback. The Moth Warrior, who had been slow to take the stage despite the shouts of the audience, was now sitting cross-legged in a corner, lost in thought!
He quickly stepped forward, shook the Moth Warrior's shoulder, and asked:
"Dude, what are you doing? The audience outside is calling for you to go up and accept your award!"
"what?"
The moth warrior looked up, bewildered, glanced at Latis, hesitated for a moment, shifted its rear end to the side, and then patted the ground, saying:
"Please make yourself at home..."
"No, I didn't come here to take your spot... Never mind."
Latis was about to explain when he looked at the empty seat left by the Moth Warrior and suddenly realized that since he was already there, he sighed and sat down.
"Here."
He hadn't even settled into his seat when a hand reached out from beside him, holding two sponge-like objects. He paused, instinctively glancing at the Moth Warrior, only to see it shake its hand and say:
"Want some earplugs?"
"……Fine."
Latis reluctantly took the earplugs, glanced at them, and then put them in his ears.
Although he could control his ear muscles to reduce the noise from outside, he simply accepted it since the Moth Warrior had already given it to him.
Latis put on his earplugs, and the distant noise immediately subsided. He turned his head, stroked his chin with satisfaction, looked at the moth warrior who had started to space out again, pondered for a moment, then elbowed it and asked:
Why don't you go and claim your award?
"what?"
The moth warrior, jolted out of his daze by the elbow strike, stared blankly at Latis for a moment, then, as if finally realizing what he had just asked, scratched his head and said:
"I don't know either...it just feels very strange."
"What's strange?" Latis asked, puzzled.
"It's strange that we... won."
The moth warrior sighed and said:
"How could someone like me, who hasn't accomplished anything, become a champion? Those monsters look much stronger than me..."
“Not a buddy.” Latis shook his head speechlessly and complained, “Isn’t it possible that you’re actually very strong? Not only were you the strongest young man to wield a straight sword in the Moth Tribe, but you also knowingly did the impossible in the Moss Tribe, challenging the Ancient Tree Monster alone… None of those challengers who only fight in the arena have your kind of conviction?”
"Ah? How do you know?"
The Moth Warrior glanced at Latis in shock, then shook his head as if he had understood something and sighed:
"The Fools' Arena's intelligence network is truly impressive; they even managed to find out about these things... But shouldn't these things be trivial matters? A true champion wouldn't care about such mundane things..."
"What are you mumbling about? That's enough."
Latis slapped the Moth Warrior on the shoulder and said sarcastically:
"You were really indecisive when you were young! Tell me, what should a true champion be like?"
"The real champion... is probably like Radiance."
The moth warrior sighed softly, took a small white flower from his bag, and whispered:
“I have inquired from many sources. It is said that the last appearance of Radiance was on the aerial root floating island on the shore of the Forgotten Lake. If I can reach there one day, perhaps I will plant this little flower, which is used to commemorate the hero, there one last time.”
update notification
For reasons we all know (too low subscription rate), I probably won't get full attendance bonus this month. Without full attendance bonus, the book's subscriptions won't even cover my living expenses. Plus, I've been busy lately, so I'll have to go into an irregular update schedule.
Perhaps because of this worry in my heart, I haven't been in a good state lately, and what I write isn't cheerful enough, so I'm not satisfied with myself.
I still need to write a new book to earn some money, or if that doesn't work, I'll find a less demanding job to stabilize my life first.
This book is only about 30% complete at this point, but it will definitely be finished gradually, though it may take a little longer. Anyway, thank you all for your support.
yours truly.
