Chapter 123 Introducing Quidditch to Harry
Chapter 123 Introducing Quidditch to Harry
After having breakfast with Percy and tutoring him on some points, I ran into Oliver in the hallway on my way to the classroom where I had class today.
"Oliver, why are you up so early today?" It's a miracle to see Oliver so early. It seems like Quidditch training hasn't started yet. You only see Quidditch players this early when Quidditch training starts.
"Professor McGonagall assigned Harry to be the Seeker the day before yesterday. I plan to talk to him about Quidditch basics after class this afternoon, and then start training the team tomorrow. I got up early this morning to check the brooms." Oliver shook the broom maintenance kit in his hand.
"I happen to be free today, can I come along?" I'm not in a relationship with either of these two people I'm trying to win over, so spending some time alone with them might trigger some kind of mission.
“Great! I’d love to have you.” Oliver was very welcoming and we talked about strategies and training content.
"I'll head to the classroom now, you go have breakfast." That's how I arranged to go with Oliver this afternoon to watch him teach Harry.
Time flies, and the last class of the day just finished. I threw my books into my backpack and went straight to the auditorium to find Oliver.
"Let's go, Ayers." Oliver and Harry were already waiting for me at the gate.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, my class might take a while." We chatted as we walked.
“It’s alright, let’s go get the ball first. I need to give Harry a basic lesson.” Oliver led Harry and me to Rolanda Hooch, who was in charge of all the Quidditch equipment.
Then we carried a large box containing a ball to a lawn where there were no wizards.
“Harry, let me introduce you to the various balls in Quidditch. First, this one is called the Quaffle. It’s twelve inches in diameter and is the most important ball in a Quidditch match. The Chaser uses the Quaffle to score points by throwing or kicking it through the opponent’s hoop.” Oliver picked up a ball and handed it to Harry.
"The second one is this, called a wandering ball? It's used to distract opposing players. The batter throws the wandering ball to knock opposing players out of bounds or off their brooms." Oliver handed Harry a bat, released the wandering ball, and Harry hit it away with a powerful shot.
In the end, Oliver caught him and locked him back in the box.
“There’s one last one. This is the ball you have to catch, Harry. Catching this will end the game. It’s called the Golden Snitch. Catching the Golden Snitch will win the game. It’s the key to deciding the outcome of a Quidditch match.” Oliver took out a small golden ball and handed it to Harry.
“I like this.” Harry placed it in his palm, and it flew up. Harry could see it very clearly as he stared at the golden snitch.
"Now you should catch it and put it back. If you let it fly like this, it will disappear in a moment." I caught the golden snitch with one hand. Even flying in such slow motion, I can still catch it immediately.
“Not bad, Ayers. I didn’t even see where the Golden Snitch flew off to.” Oliver took the Golden Snitch I handed him and put it back in the box.
After introducing the name and purpose of the Quidditch ball, Oliver gave Harry a detailed explanation of how to play Quidditch.
I simply sat to the side and listened to their conversation, occasionally adding a few words.
After Harry finished learning about the training, Oliver informed him that he would be attending training the next day, and the three of us went back to the Great Hall together.
"Harry, how's it going? You're going to training with us tomorrow." Fred came over and put his arm around Harry's shoulder as soon as they entered the Great Hall.
"Are you nervous? Are you happy?" George came over and lay on top of me to join in the fun.
"Maybe a bit of both." Harry had a good impression of Quidditch in the wizarding world, but he had never actually played it, so he was a little nervous.
"Then you really need to be prepared to collapse from exhaustion." Fred left Harry and then leaned on me.
“Oliver is a devil when it comes to Quidditch. He won’t stop until we’re all lying down,” George threatened Harry.
However, what they said was true; it seemed that they were trained in their second year to be able to fall asleep while eating breakfast.
Later, I think I talked to Oliver and said that such intense training would wear them down, and it would be a waste of their time in the competition.
Only then did they change the training content, allowing Fred and George to catch their breath before gradually increasing the intensity of the training, and now they are able to keep up with the training content.
"Don't be afraid, Harry. Fred and George are just trying to scare you. Oliver won't train you too badly," I reassured Harry, who was pale with fright.
"Really?" Harry was a little skeptical.
"Don't listen to what those two are saying. If I train you to the point of collapse, who will play for our Gryffindor team?" Oliver assured him. What if this newly recruited Seeker gets scared away like this? It seems Fred and George will need to do extra training tomorrow.
The twins hid behind me when they saw Oliver looking over.
It's obvious Oliver has ill intentions; Geminis think they're bound to get messed with by him tomorrow.
"Let's go. You need to eat well to have the motivation to train, right? You guys should eat your fill, then go back to your dorms, take a good shower, and get a good night's sleep so you can get up early for training tomorrow." I led the way into the hall, and the others followed behind me.
Today it was our turn to eat at the Hufflepuff long table, and Cedric and Percy were already sitting there waiting for us.
Now even the three little ones have joined our group.
Hermione Gene Granger was also honored to be the only girl among this group of handsome men.
Each young wizard who entered from a different house gave us all a look of admiration.
"Harry, how was your afternoon? Did you practice Quidditch?" Ron asked Harry as soon as he sat down next to him.
Hermione Gene Granger, the academic star, didn't even glance at Harry and Ron. Instead, she walked up to me with a thick book and asked me about something she couldn't understand.
"Hermione, I know you study very hard, but I think you can put down your books now, sit down and have a delicious dinner first, and then think about the contents of the books. What do you think?" I did not give Hermione an answer to her question, but smiled and reminded her that she needed to rest and eat.
“Senior Ayers, you’re right. I should have a delicious dinner first before studying hard.” Hermione was an obedient and good girl.
