Chapter 18 Chaincode, The Theft Plan, The Hunter's Request
Chapter 18 Chaincode, The Theft Plan, The Hunter's Request
The hunter then added an explanation:
"Carter is our friend, and we must help his family get out of Salukamai first."
Lance frowned slightly and asked in confusion:
"The spaceship is right here, why don't we just take them with us?"
The hunter sighed softly and shook his head, saying:
"If it were still during the Republic era, things wouldn't be so complicated."
"Find any remote planet, live under an assumed name in some unknown village, and no one will bother you."
He paused, his tone becoming serious:
"But the empire has now implemented a new policy: only those who possess blockchain code have legitimate status."
"You know Carter's situation; we must not let the Empire find out."
"Without chaincode, they are at risk of being exposed at any time."
"A few of us can pilot a spaceship and hide around."
"But they have two children and need a stable life, not an endless escape."
Lance nodded slightly, then asked:
"Chaincode? What's that?"
The technician adjusted his glasses and explained:
"An electronic identity credential that is linked to personal biometrics and profile data."
"According to the new imperial regulations, a chain code must be presented whether using public transportation or entering most public areas."
Lance understood; the chain code was the ID card.
"What are your plans?"
The technicians had already considered this:
"Forging chaincode requires a blank disk and an encoder."
"Given that the Empire has towed all its ships to the spaceport for registration, and that the spaceport is under the control of the clones."
"My plan is to hide inside the spaceship and have the Empire drag it into the spaceport."
The hunter immediately became excited, his voice rising several decibels:
"You mean you want the Empire to tow our spaceship away?"
"Are you crazy?"
The technician adjusted his glasses, his tone remaining calm:
"Yes, this is the simplest and most efficient plan at present."
"Once I'm inside the spaceport, I can easily hack into their system and get my hands on the disks and encoders."
He paused for a moment, then added:
"According to my calculations, the success rate is very high."
The hunter was so angry he gritted his teeth, staring at him and demanding:
"And then what?"
"How did we get out of the heavily guarded spaceport?"
The technician stroked his chin, head bowed in thought:
"...That is indeed a problem."
Just then, Lance spoke up:
"I have a solution."
He pointed to R2-P18 at his feet:
"Let it blend in."
Everyone was taken aback for a moment, then their eyes lit up.
Lance then added:
"After obtaining the blank disk and encoder, sneak out quietly."
"No one will pay attention to an ordinary mechanic robot."
R2 extends two robotic arms to showcase its talents.
In fact, there was a deeper reason why Lance proposed this plan.
He did not fully trust these people.
Instead of using their people, we should send R2 instead.
At least it won't betray itself.
The members of the Extraordinary Squad exchanged glances, and after a brief moment of thought, they all nodded:
"The plan is indeed feasible."
The hunter looked at the technician and added:
"That's much more reliable than your terrible idea."
Seeing that relations between the two sides had improved considerably, Carter immediately proposed:
"Why don't we all come to my house for a cup of tea? I just happen to need to change the color of my R2."
Lance pondered for a moment, then slowly nodded.
The group left the spaceship and arrived at Carter's small courtyard.
When the two children saw their parents return, they rushed forward and hugged them tightly.
Carter patted their heads, his face beaming with pride.
He pointed to the blue-skinned boy and said:
"This is my son, Jack Lowequin."
Then he pointed to another brown-skinned child:
"My daughter, Shaia Lauquin."
Jack and Shaia's attention had already been drawn to Gugu in Lance's arms.
With hands clasped together and eyes sparkling, he instantly transformed into a devoted fan.
"By the way, I still don't know how to address you?"
Within the Force perception, a friendly emotion was consistently reflected.
Lance's guard lowered slightly again, and he said his name:
Lance Black.
He patted the little guy's head again:
"His name is Gu Gu."
The two Tirek children muttered softly, their faces beaming with excited smiles.
They looked up at Lance, their eyes filled with anticipation:
"Brother, can we play with Gugu?"
Lance was still a little worried and gently declined:
"No, he's too young."
Shaia, the younger sister, wanted to beg again, but Carter interrupted her:
"We're leaving soon, you two should hurry up and pack your things."
"oh......"
The two siblings lowered their heads, turned around, and went into the house.
Carter quickly smiled apologetically:
"Sorry, the child doesn't understand."
"fine."
At this moment, Su came out of the tool shed, carrying two tin cans in his hands:
"Fortunately, there are still two cans of black spray paint left."
"I've seen the robots in the spaceport before, and almost all of them were black."
Upon hearing this, R2 immediately voiced its protest.
But at this point, it was no longer possible for it to refuse.
Moments later, thanks to Sue's superb graffiti skills, R2's appearance was completely transformed, becoming almost identical to the Imperial robot.
R2, however, was rather disheartened and listless.
The color on its outer shell is like its clothes.
The once beautiful orange-yellow coat has turned into an unpleasant black in the blink of an eye.
Seeing this, Lance beckoned it aside:
"Pay attention, don't lose points."
"You are now Agent R2, no longer an ordinary astronaut mechanic robot."
After drinking a bowl of "spiritual chicken soup" bestowed by its master, R2 immediately stretched out its two mechanical arms and waved them, appearing exceptionally energetic.
"Beep beep!"
Lance nodded in satisfaction and returned to the crowd with it.
"Let's start implementing the plan now."
After a brief discussion, it was decided that Carter and Sue would pilot the landship and take R2 to the spaceport in the city.
Having lived here for many years, the two were familiar with the environment and rules, making them the least likely to attract the Empire's attention.
More importantly, their children are still at home.
That's why Lance wasn't worried about them doing anything impulsive.
This cannot be blamed on his petty mind.
The human heart is something that can never withstand the test.
Such behavior is somewhat contrary to the Jedi doctrine.
A sense of guilt and remorse arose in Lance's heart, but he quickly suppressed it.
In an environment where you are surrounded by enemies, you can never be too cautious.
Any slight oversight could cost him his life, as well as Gu Gu's.
The hunter clearly sensed his concerns, so he did not refute them during the discussion, but instead expressed his agreement.
After the discussion, everyone immediately began preparing to depart.
Before leaving, the hunter sought out Lance alone:
"I want that robot to bring back an extra blank disk."
Lance paused slightly, then asked curiously:
"Didn't we just confirm that only four are needed?"
The hunter nodded, paused for a moment, and then spoke:
"The fifth one is for Omega."
Lance was somewhat surprised:
"she?"
"Isn't Omega one of your team members?"
