105. The only one, human?
105. The only one, human?
As evening approached, the bar began preparing for its evening business.
Jiang Chen changed into a uniform, which was quite formal: a white shirt, a black vest, and black trousers, all well-tailored and perfectly highlighting his tall and straight figure.
Jiang Chen felt awkward; these clothes accentuated her figure, but they felt a bit tight.
He prefers loose-fitting clothes, such as white lab coats.
He stood by the staff entrance, waiting for the bar staff, who were also his colleagues, to come and clock in for work.
Jiang Chen had anticipated the situation at the bar, but he was still strongly shocked when he saw the employees coming to work.
The first person to come in was a spirited young man with dyed yellow hair; his name was Xiao Huang.
He was wearing a vest with the word "security guard" printed on it, had a cigarette dangling from his mouth, and walked with a slovenly gait, like a hoodlum.
Jiang Chen saw him naturally raise one leg and make a standard gesture by the telephone pole by the door before entering.
He marked a location.
Jiang Chen's lips twitched slightly; he already had some guesses about the other party's identity.
"Are you new here? Do you smoke?"
"Thank you, I don't smoke!"
"It seems you're here to work as a waiter. They usually call me Xiao Huang, but you can also call me Brother Huang. I work as a security guard here."
"Jiang Chen!"
Jiang Chen is quite aloof when facing people he doesn't know well.
"I'm a Chinese rural dog, what about you?"
The Chinese Rural Dog is a unique breed of dog native to the land of China, cultivated by our ancestors over many years.
The Chinese rural dog's primary job is to guard the gate, but now it's acting as a security guard... how should I put it, it's very professional.
As for what his true form was, Jiang Chen thought about it and felt that saying he was human seemed too inappropriate, as he would probably be very out of place.
So after thinking for three seconds, this is what Jiang Chen said.
"My situation is more complicated; I've eaten the flesh of a living Tai Sui (a type of rare fungus)..."
Upon hearing the words "living flesh of Tai Sui," Xiao Huang immediately became respectful, his attitude changing completely, and he almost bowed and scraped.
"So you are Lord Jiang Chen. You can just call me Xiao Huang."
"Don't be so formal. After all, you're the long-time employee."
"But Lord Jiang Chen, why are you working as a waiter?"
"I still can't fully control my power."
Jiang Chen was telling the truth, he just didn't say everything, but that didn't stop Xiao Huang from filling in the blanks with his own imagination.
"Understood, Lord Jiang Chen. Time is almost up, I'll go to my post now."
When Xiao Huang walked into the staff changing room and came out, he had changed into a smart black security guard uniform.
He stubbed out his cigarette, stood ramrod straight, his eyes sharp, and exuded a professional aura that warned strangers to stay away.
If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, Jiang Chen would never have connected the professional security guard in front of him with the thug who had just urinated under the utility pole.
This professionalism, ingrained in their very bones and flowing in their blood, is simply amazing. They truly deserve to be called Chinese rural dogs.
Immediately afterwards, a group of scantily clad young women walked in, laughing and joking.
They were the opening act dance troupe at the bar, each with a sharp, long chin and a snake-like face, and their exposed skin was covered in tattoos.
But those tattoos weren't done at a tattoo parlor; they were natural skin textures.
As soon as they entered, they took off their coats, revealing their tight-fitting dance costumes underneath, and walked towards the central dance floor, chatting and laughing, to begin their warm-up.
One girl laughed as she bent her upper body backward, her head passing between her legs, while another girl coiled herself around the steel pipe several times.
That pole dancing was really authentic.
They all share a common characteristic: their waists and bones are incredibly flexible, almost like they were sculpted from clay. They can effortlessly perform movements that are impossible for humans, thus showcasing their graceful figures.
Jiang Chen could roughly guess what they were; those seemingly cool tattoos on their bodies were probably natural snake scale patterns.
"Tsk tsk, a newcomer today?"
A kind, honest voice rang out beside Jiang Chen.
Jiang Chen turned his head and saw two burly men, both dressed in waiter uniforms, walking over.
One was dark-skinned and muscular; his name was Big Yellow. The other was fair-skinned, had a goatee, and gentle eyes; his name was Big White.
After a brief exchange, Jiang Chen learned that one of them was a big yellow ox and the other was a white goat.
Very good, Ox-Head and Horse-Face... oh no, I mean Ox-Head and Sheep-Face are all here.
The last one is the bartender, the bartender in the bar. Jiang Chen had met him before, because Shen used his image from the beginning. He is rather taciturn and started working as soon as he arrived.
As the bar manager, Shen explained that the bartender's code name was Gluttony, but as for his true identity, Shen didn't know either; only the Grand Duke of Tai Sui should know.
Jiang Chen nodded and didn't press further, because he didn't care.
He was silently calculating in his mind that he was probably the only human among all the employees in the bar.
Hmm, but is he even human anymore?
Jiang Chen really couldn't figure out the answer to this question.
"Hey, handsome guy."
A pure and sweet voice rang in his ears. Shen had changed into a new look, this time a pure and innocent college girl style.
She had her hair in pigtails, wore a pleated skirt, and had a bright, innocent smile on her face. Her big, bright eyes blinked as she looked at him expectantly.
Yes, she is indeed very pure, fresh, clean, and full of vitality.
"How's this look? Does it suit your taste?"
Jiang Chen looked her up and down, then shook his head slightly and said, "In my opinion, your smile is a bit fake, almost like a forced smile. It's somewhat unnatural. Have you never smiled sincerely at anyone?"
These words seemed to touch Shen's heart, and the smile on her face stiffened inch by inch.
However, she quickly recovered and shook her head, saying, "Jiang Chen, has anyone ever told you that you're clueless about romance and a boring man?"
What could Jiang Chen say but chuckle? However, he still had a question.
"Is this your true form, or are you casting a mental illusion on me?"
Shen chuckled, "Guess!"
Guess whether I'll guess or not.
As night fell, the bar doors slowly opened, and deafening bass-heavy rock music instantly ignited the entire space.
The lights flashed wildly in all colors, and on the dance floor, the girls from the Snake Dance Troupe had already begun their wild performance, drawing whistles and screams.
As guests poured in, the entire bar was quickly enveloped in a bizarre and chaotic atmosphere.
Jiang Chen carried a tray with several glasses of wine, moving expressionlessly between the various booths.
He had only one thought in his mind: the world is going to the dogs, and demons are running rampant.
Even fairies need to work and make a living, unlike Cat Lord who just loafs around all day.
