Chapter 106 Doctor Strange
Chapter 106 Doctor Strange
Chapter 106 Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange, Stephen Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth, the top magician in the Marvel universe, is nicknamed the "Kidney-Weak Sorcerer" because he is an overpowered character with all his stats set to 7 (the highest possible) by Marvel, and he inexplicably dies every time something big happens, thus sacrificing himself for the enemy, just like the Flash next door who gets banned every day.
But that's not important. What's important is that it's September 2012 now, and something seems to have happened that has caused Doctor Strange's timeline to move forward as well.
"May I ask who you are?"
"Strange, you can call me Doctor Strange. I am the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth. I am responsible for protecting our reality from any supernatural, primarily magical and rule-based, intrusions and disruptions." Strange briefly introduced himself, and Peter suddenly realized something and couldn't help but chuckle: "Excuse me, is Strange your...name or code name?"
"My last name is Strange, thank you."
Seeing Strange's increasingly cold gaze, Peter also suppressed his smile: "Sorry, uh, I actually roughly know what you mean. A woman called Lady Spiderweb told me about the Web of Fate and totems. This is my ability, and I know what I'm doing."
You know nothing!
Strange, his gaze even colder, floated in front of Peter: "Do you know how many spells I just cast to prevent our universe from vibrating at an abnormal frequency? I know your soul is protected by the spider totem, and you are the patriarch. It is your responsibility to travel through the multiverse to save your totems, but that doesn't mean you can act so arbitrarily."
"Are you saying my behavior is like trying to trap someone's foot by opening a door? Doors are for going in and out, not for trapping people's feet."
"Yes." Strange, who had been swayed by Peter's seemingly reasonable description, immediately realized what was going on and shouted, "No! My God, listen, that's not how it works!"
So, with Doctor Strange's magical little science lesson, Peter finally figured out some basic knowledge about this multiverse.
In the Marvel multiverse, every jump between multiverses is a tear in the barrier of reality. The difference lies in the fact that some tears can be repaired, such as the multiverse shuttle created by Peter Parker using multiverse data, while others are irreparable. There are also special cases, such as those using the Web of Fate, which is essentially beyond the scope of the multiverse and has no impact on the barrier of reality itself.
This is also why Peter was still able to cross the incredibly thick barrier of reality in Universe 616.
However, even so, any act of traveling through the multiverse will cause a vibration in both the original universe and the target universe. This will leave a trace. If a civilization or individual can discover this trace, they will be able to determine which universes have the ability to travel through the multiverse.
"And what you've done is tell the entire multiverse that you have the ability to travel between multiverses; you're a human-shaped multiverse shuttle." Strange looked at Peter with annoyance. "What if someone discovers this and catches you on your next trip? Hmm? You might become someone else's tool for invading the multiverse. Nothing is impossible, kid. Even if you defiantly commit suicide, someone can still use your corpse to continue all of this."
"Um, okay, so...?"
"So I'll keep an eye on you and cast a spell on you that will make it harder for you to tear open a spatial rift. That way you'll have to think about whether it's really necessary. And once you've torn open a spatial rift, I'll observe whether it was really necessary. If you mess up the spatial rift again, just to kill a thug like you did today..."
Strange shook his head and solemnly warned Peter.
"I'll turn you into a humanoid spider and throw you into the Sahara Desert."
Well, this really is a stern warning.
Unfazed, Peter nodded hastily, understanding the dangers of frequent use of his abilities. He watched as Strange began chanting a spell and applying it to himself, then casually asked, "May I ask how old you were when you became a sorcerer?"
"I became the Sorcerer Supreme two years ago, and a year ago. If some little brat hadn't been born three years early, I probably wouldn't have become the Sorcerer Supreme for another three years."
Strange glanced at Peter as he cast his spell. He wasn't blaming Peter; after all, Peter probably didn't know why his fate had been altered, that he'd been born three years early. Strange quickly finished the spell and prepared to leave, but Peter stopped him: "Um, Doctor?"
"What's wrong, child?"
"Aren't you planning to join the Avengers?"
"I've made myself very clear." Strange raised an eyebrow: "You protect the world, I protect reality."
"And what good is there in the world we're protecting that's actually helpful to reality?"
Unaware that he had been tricked, Strange nodded: "There is indeed one. Loki's scepter from Asgard is currently the only Infinity Stone on Earth. If you could entrust it to me for safekeeping, Earth would be much safer."
"The only one?!" Peter exclaimed, realizing his slip of the tongue, and quickly tried to cover it up: "You mean, there's more than one of these?"
"The Infinity Stones are special substances, each with a unique function. In the past, the Space Stone was hidden on Earth by Odin, which is the Cosmic Cube. Now the Cosmic Cube has been taken away by the Asgardians, so only one remains."
in other words……
The Time Stone is not in Strange's possession; no, it's possible the Time Stone was never on Earth.
This is a huge problem. Although Strange became the Sorcerer Supreme and most likely managed to defeat Dormammu, the loss of one Infinity Stone means the complete collapse of the storyline, and the MCU's relevance to the universe will be further diminished.
"What if you collect them all?"
Peter took a deep breath to calm himself. Strange seemed to have only come to warn Peter, leaving without even answering Peter's last question. Peter looked out over Manhattan, feeling for the first time a sense of unreality washing over him; the future was shrouded in a thick fog.
Will Infinite Wars really arrive in 2018, just like in the story?
