Chapter 67 The Universe is More Mad Than You Imagine
Chapter 67 The Universe is More Mad Than You Imagine
The orange-skinned woman, whom her companions called Coreanda, became even angrier upon hearing Joey's words; her screams and roars even sounded somewhat hysterical.
"You heartless bastard, stop pretending to be innocent! The badge on your chest has given you away!"
Not only her, but the moment Joey asked that question, the other three people present completely lost their composure. Chip, the Green Lantern who had just been pleading for Joey, was just as furious as Corey and Antha had been earlier:
"You Kryptonian who insists on keeping a pet, don't mistake my kindness to you as weakness! Stop provoking poor Corianda!"
"I have no idea what you guys are talking about. You must have the wrong person."
Joey realized that the two were talking about completely different things. He was talking about the front gate tower, while the other was talking about the hip joint. But in this cross-server chat, he suddenly remembered who the name Kolianda was.
Starfire, a core member of the Teen Titans in the DC Universe, is a princess from another planet. "Kolianda" is her name on her home planet, which translates to "Starfire" in Earth's language.
Her home planet, a planet at least hundreds of light-years away from Krypton, is also recorded in Krypton's database. Joey remembers it being called—
"I remember you, Starfire, that Coreanda from Tamaran?"
Upon hearing the words "Tamaran," Koliana completely erupted: "You son of a bitch, you butcher! I knew you were just making fun of me!"
The sudden surge of anger and the will for revenge caused Starfire Corianda to forcefully break through the limitations of the Green Lantern Ring on her hand, projecting a kryptonite spear that thrust straight at Joey's vitals.
Holy crap!
The three Lanterns, Fishman, Pighead, and Squirrel, only had time to shout before hurriedly projecting three shields to block Joey's path.
But faced with Starfire's even more fervent will, the three shields were pierced instantly. The three helplessly watched as the spear was about to kill the Kryptonian, causing Starfire, a promising member of the Lamp Party, to commit murder...
"What on earth are you guys doing?"
Joey casually reached out and stopped the kryptonite spear that was thrusting towards him. The sharp blade of will could not harm Joey in the slightest. Then, with a wave of his hand, he smashed the hundreds of nested cages made of light of will.
"Holy crap! Get ready for the red sun..."
The three Lanterns, still stunned, gasped again. This method of imprisonment had always worked perfectly against Kryptonians, so why was it failing today?!
Then Joey disappeared from their sight, and a red figure flashed past the four of them at a speed they couldn't react to.
Joey confiscated the rings from three of the four members of the Light Group, especially Starfire, but kept her green light ring, knowing she might do something crazy again.
"Can we talk properly now?" Joey showed the four-person team the three lamp rings in his hand.
Chip, the only remaining Lantern Squirrel in the Lantern Clan whose ring hadn't been taken away, saw this and quickly projected an energy field to protect his three companions from the invasion of the vacuum of space.
The current situation is clear enough that Squirrel Chip must spare time to maintain the survival of his three teammates. At this moment, facing an unrestricted Kryptonian, he can only be slaughtered at will.
Even so, he didn't back down verbally:
"I don't know what tricks you're up to, but if you think you can use my own and my comrades' lives to threaten me into betraying Oa or the Lightbringer's interests, you've got the wrong idea, Kryptonian!"
The four men's baseless attack was enough for Joey to sentence them to death immediately, but he still appeared amiable: "There must be some small misunderstanding between us."
Although Joey doesn't agree with the ideals of Oa's little blue men guardians, the Lantern is the Lantern, and the little blue men are the little blue men; they still need to be distinguished.
The members of the Green Lantern Corps have indeed objectively sacrificed their lives to maintain cosmic order. The average term of each Green Lantern Corps member is only 4.32 years, and Joey felt that there was no need for him to accelerate their life process now.
Moreover, Joey still cared a lot about what they called "Kryptonians." It wasn't hard to deduce from their words that there were definitely more than just him and Kara as Kryptonians in this universe, and that other Kryptonians seemed to have a rather bad reputation.
"What the hell are you talking about? Krypton was destroyed a long time ago, and you might be one of the only two survivors?!"
After hearing Joey's explanation, Squirrel Chip just looked at him like he was an idiot. Had this young man been blasted into a daze by the Kryptonite ray?
But taking advantage of Squirrel Chip's momentary lapse in attention, Starfire, trapped inside the green light shield, grew even angrier.
She punched a hole in the protective layer and emerged, her orange skin blazing with intense flames as she charged straight at Joey:
"I've had enough of the humiliation your monstrous race has inflicted on me! Especially you, a traitor to the El family, I, Feng, am going to fucking kill you right now!"
As a Tamaran, Xinghuo possesses a constitution similar to that of Kryptonians, allowing her to absorb ultraviolet energy, survive in outer space, and have superhuman strength and endurance. Joey felt that even if he went a little too hard, it wouldn't be a problem.
With a muffled thud, Xinghuo, who had just escaped her predicament, was punched in the face by Joey, who flashed forward. Blood from her nose congealed into several beads and flew into space.
She herself fell into a baby-like sleep, and was then casually pushed back into the green light protective shield projected by Squirrel Chip by Joey.
"What's wrong with this person?!"
To be honest, in the normal timeline, Starfire is at least the leader of the Teen Titans team, gentle, caring, and cheerful. Joey didn't expect that when he first met Starfire, she was like a mad dog.
All I can say is that everything in this timeline seems rather mad.
"Although I don't know exactly what's wrong with you, this is the first time we've seen a Kryptonian as unaggressive as you. If you really don't know, then please don't blame Corianda."
Squirrel Chip stared at the large golden "S" emblem on Joey's chest, his eyes filled with pain and apprehension.
Two years ago, her planet was completely destroyed by alien invaders, and her people were all wiped out. She was the only survivor who survived by taking an escape pod. She is the last surviving member of the Tamaran people.
The leader of the Kryptonian fleet that invaded the Tamaran Heng system, that ruthless mad scientist, wore armor with an insignia identical to the one on your chest. His name was…
Holy crap—Joey couldn't help but exclaim "Holy crap!" in his mind at that moment.
He finally discovered that this Flashpoint universe was far more insane than he had imagined, and almost without thinking, he simultaneously uttered the same name as Chip, the Lantern Rider:
"...Joe El."
