Chapter 19: Pretending to be the "Creator" to Deceive the Old Man
Chapter 19: Pretending to be the "Creator" to Deceive the Old Man
Seeing that the operation plan had been successfully completed, the Prometheus, under the control of three trimaran warships, landed at LV-223. The tense nerves of the monitoring governor and the military governor in charge of the operation finally relaxed a lot.
Fortunately, I didn't mess things up in front of His Excellency the Supreme Leader!
A holographic projection of the military governor appeared in Cheng Yuan's safe house and reported to Cheng Yuan:
"Your Excellency Supreme Consul, the Prometheus spaceship has been captured. The mission is a complete success. We await your instructions!"
Cheng Yuan had already planned ahead regarding the Prometheus spaceship and the humans on board. He said, "Tow the Prometheus to LV-223, immediately organize a team to dismantle it, reverse engineer its technology, and crack its database."
"The humans on it will be separated and imprisoned, while the android David will be destroyed directly, and no data or information may be preserved!"
Cheng Yuan had no intention of keeping the android David. The technology used to create it was just so-so, and besides, this guy had a rebellious streak; keeping him might just turn him into a menace.
The humans on the Prometheus also have to be disposed of, but before that, their value must be squeezed dry.
The greatest value of these people is not as experimental subjects, but their understanding of human civilization in the Alien universe.
What's the value of human talent? We can just clone them using their cells. What's important is the intelligence they possess, which is what Cheng Yuan and The Three-Body Problem lack.
Cheng Yuan knew the general plot of the Alien film series, but he didn't know much about the specifics of human civilization in the Alien world. He could use these details as examples of the world's native inhabitants to fill in the gaps.
The Trisolaran civilization's development in the Alien universe inevitably leads to encounters with human civilization. Understanding these encounters will allow for more thorough preparation.
As Sun Tzu's Art of War says, "Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated." This principle remains relevant even in interstellar civilizations.
………………
Peter Weyland opened his cloudy old eyes, and what appeared before him was not his high-class hibernation room, but a white ceiling.
where is this?
Shouldn't I be in the hibernation pod of the Prometheus?
Where's my daughter? Where's David? Why can't I see them?
Realizing something was wrong, Peter Wayland's cloudy eyes cleared considerably. He struggled to sit up and discovered that he was not wearing anything. The place he had just been lying on was a white bed, not the high-end hibernation pod he had spent a lot of money to make.
Although he was naked, he felt no discomfort except for the weakness that came with old age.
Peter Whelan looked around the room. It was a pure white room, and apart from him and the bed he was lying on, there was no one else or anything else.
What went wrong with his plan? Who brought him here?
Was it an enemy, or his capable daughter?
That shouldn't be the case. His daughter is very loyal to him, and besides, he has already handed over the reins of the Weilan Company to her. There's no reason for her to lock him up!
Peter Whelan sat on the bed for a while, then suddenly spoke: "Tell me, what's your purpose in locking me up here? Whether it's money or something else, we can talk. I know you're watching!"
"Are you really open to discussing anything?"
A voice came from behind Peter Weyland, and he quickly turned around to see a holographic projection appear there.
After the projection appeared, he leisurely strolled around the room as if he were wandering through a garden.
Upon seeing the holographic projection, Peter Weyland's pupils constricted sharply, and his body trembled with excitement.
This holographic projection resembles a human, with human-like hands, feet, waist, abdomen, and facial features, yet it is different from a human.
It is taller and stronger than humans, with smooth, hairless, grayish-white skin that looks very hard. Its skull is enormous, with a high and broad forehead and deep-set eyes.
Its eyes are black, without obvious pupils or whites; it has a high nose bridge; extremely thin lips with a sharp shape; and its body is covered with a rib-like hard shell, resembling some kind of armor.
Compared to it, humans are like skinny little monkeys.
Although he had never seen the Creator, a voice in Peter Whelan's heart said: This is the Creator, the origin of humankind!
Peter Weyland slid off the bed, then knelt before the holographic projection with a reverent expression, his voice trembling as he said, "Great Creator, I salute you!"
The projection slowly turned its head, as if looking at a humble insect, and asked with interest, "How do you know I am your creator?"
Peter Weyland exclaimed excitedly, "It's an instinct from our genes! The moment I first saw you, I knew you were our Creator!"
The projection said, "Your genes were indeed spread by us; it wouldn't be wrong to say that we created you."
"I never imagined that after so many years, the seeds I sowed would grow into towering trees, and the apes on the planet would not only be able to walk on the ground, but would also develop into an interstellar civilization."
"You've done a great job finding this place by following the trail we left behind!"
Upon hearing this, Peter Whelan humbly replied, "It is merely a minor development, far inferior to the great Creator."
The projection ignored his flattery and continued, "What is your purpose in coming to our star system? Is it to search for us and verify our existence?"
Peter Weyland hesitated for a moment, but still spoke: "I dare not deceive the great Creator. I have come here to ask the great Creator to remove the genetic restrictions on me and delay my death."
The projection became interested and said, "You want to obtain immortality from us?"
Peter Whelan said, "Yes, Great Creator! I don't want to die, I want to live on, I don't want to smell this rotten odor on my body anymore!"
"I've tried everything, but nothing can stop me from aging. I think the only way is..."
Peter Weyland looked up at the projection with anticipation: "Only the great Creator who created us can remove the genetic limitations on me and slow down my aging."
A seed appeared in the projector's hand. Peter Weyland watched as the seed took root, sprouted, grew leaves, and blossomed into a beautiful flower. The flower then bore a fruit, which ripened and fell to the ground, causing the plant to wither and die.
"The cycle of birth and death is a natural law. Why should we help you remove these limitations and delay your death?"
Peter Whelan was stunned. He realized something: he had found the Creator, but he seemed to have nothing to offer that would move the Creator.
To give his billions of dollars to the Creator?
Would the Creator want that thing?
Find many beautiful women for the Creator?
Would the Creator even notice?
If the Creator's technology can even create such things, and they really need beautiful women, why don't they create them themselves?
Moreover, the Creator's aesthetic sense may not be the same as that of humans.
As for giving power to the Creator, don't make the Creator laugh.
The Creator has been roaming the universe for countless years; how could He possibly care about His little bit of power?
