Chapter 216 Verification

Chapter 216 Verification (Part 2)

Feng Weixu walked to the control panel, looked at the various test data, and said excitedly, "Hmm, very good. The signal interaction is smooth, with no delays or deviations. The safety mechanism is very responsive, and the results are completely consistent with the previous rounds of simulation tests!"

Jiang Haiyang said, "Judging from the data you measured this time, this equipment performs exceptionally well."

Feng Weixu nodded and said, "Yes, it has exceeded my expectations."

Wei Hongsi asked, "How did you feel just now?"

Feng Weixu said, "Aside from a slight itch on my scalp at the very beginning, I didn't feel any discomfort afterwards."

"I'll give it a try!" Jiang Haiyang said as he left the control room, lay down on another test chair, and repeated the testing steps that Feng Weixu had taken before.

Ten minutes later, Jiang Haiyang's test was over. He got off the testing chair, went to the control room, and asked, "How did it go?"

"That's basically the same situation as mine," Feng Weixu said, patting the top of his head. "Can you feel it?"

"I don't feel itchy, just a little numb." Jiang Haiyang checked his test data at the control panel, then asked Wei Hongsi, "Shall we begin the formal verification?"

Wei Hongsi pondered for a moment, then nodded and said, "Let's proceed according to your plan."

The test that Feng Weixu and Jiang Haiyang just conducted was both a test of human-computer brainwave signal interaction and a calibration of the equipment. After obtaining the expected results, the next step is to conduct a two-person interaction test, which is the core of this verification experiment.

With the engineer's assistance, the two lay back down on the test chair and completed the preliminary preparations.

A few minutes later, Wei Hongsi watched as the signal indicator lights on the control panel lit up one by one, and at the same time gave the two of them the "start" signal.

According to the pre-set plan, the two people will first have three fixed-content conversations in the first round.

Feng Weixu initiated the conversation for the first time: "LO————"

Jiang Haiyang replied after receiving the message: "LOGIN".

"6

Jiang Haiyang initiated the dialogue for the second time: "HelloWorld".

Feng Weixu replied: "S".

The third dialogue initiated by Feng Weixu: "Crossing the Great Wall, Going to the World."

Jiang Haiyang replied: "The stars and the sea, intertwined. The shimmering starlight comes towards you."

After the first round of testing, both sides entered a period of silence. Once all the signal indicator lights came on again, Wei Hongsi simultaneously signaled "continue" to both of them.

The second round of testing consisted of two free-flowing conversational interactions.

Feng Weixu's first question: "Guess what I'm thinking right now?"

Jiang Haiyang: "Guess if I'll guess?"

Jiang Haiyang's second statement: "C = B log2(1 + S/N)".

Feng Weixu: "C—ma = 42bit/s".

After the second round of testing concluded, a period of silence followed before the third round of testing began.

This round of testing involves scenario construction.

First, Feng Weixu imagined a simple environmental scene, which Jiang Haiyang then described; then Jiang Haiyang imagined a scene, which Feng Weixu described.

Feng Weixu envisioned a laboratory workspace with a set of charts on a large screen and an electronic clock on the wall.

Jiang Haiyang envisioned a small classroom with several students sitting inside and two geometric figures drawn on the blackboard.

After three rounds of testing, the two remained silent for a period of time before disconnecting and, with the assistance of an engineer, disabling the device.

The two got off the testing chairs, looked at each other, and Jiang Haiyang asked, "What time is on your digital clock?"

Feng Weixu said, "I didn't think about that part in detail. My focus was on the charts on the big screen."

Jiang Haiyang glanced at him sideways: "Then why did you put a digital clock there?"

Feng Weixu argued vehemently, "Because there should be an electronic clock there! I haven't even asked you yet, what shape is that on your blackboard?"

"It should be a spiral."

"should?"

"I initially intended to place a few concentric circles, but then my mind wandered."

"Oh, I see, there are three girls in the classroom."

Their third round of testing did not aim for perfect scene construction, but rather to verify the transmission of sensory imagery.

The scenes constructed in the brain through imagination, including dreams, may appear coherent and complete in subjective experience. However, much of the content is actually filled in by the mind, with only the part that is consciously focused having details. This phenomenon is known in cognitive neuroscience and psychology as the synergistic effect of "sparse representations" and "perceptual filling."

Therefore, their description of the scene is considered successful as long as it corresponds to the content of the builder.

The two walked into the control room while talking.

Wei Hongsi said to them, "This verification was a success. Come and see for yourselves."

Feng Weixu and Jiang Haiyang carefully reviewed the three rounds of verification data and were very satisfied with the results. Their recent days of working overtime to advance this work have yielded positive results.

Feng Weixu asked, "What's the next step?"

Wei Hongsi said, "We will be transferring to the Third Research Institute soon. If you have time, you can continue to follow along. It shouldn't take too long."

What they did today is functional verification. The Third Research Institute will then conduct performance testing in specific scenarios before it can be tested on members of the Light Guide Association. This process shouldn't take too long, probably only a day or two.

Feng Weixu nodded and said, "Okay, now that we're here, I'll definitely follow to the end."

Jiang Haiyang shrugged: "I have no objection."

Wei Hongsi gathered the staff involved in the test together and announced that the verification experiment was successful, thus concluding the day's work. He then spoke with the provisional head of the laboratory, instructing him to move the equipment first thing the next morning and to prepare accordingly.

After leaving the laboratory on the 11th floor, Wei Hongsi led his two senior colleagues to the office on the 16th floor, where they discussed the follow-up work and the relocation of equipment with the project leader from the Third Research Institute.

After finishing up for the day, it was almost five o'clock. Wei Hongsi asked, "What would you like to eat tonight?"

Jiang Haiyang said, "We're not picky eaters, just ask Shen Qing."

Wei Hongsi was somewhat puzzled: "Why should we ask her?"

Jiang Haiyang said, "Don't you guys get together every Sunday?"

Wei Hongsi smiled and shook his head: "That's not true."

Feng Weixu said, "Of course! Last time we ate at Haiyang's house, she said she would cook two dishes for everyone to try next time."

Wei Hongsi thought to himself, she said next time, not next week.

Speaking of Shen Qing, he remembered something: "Shen Qing has a song going to be promoted on the charts next week, you guys should support it too."

Jiang Haiyang laughed and said, "Supporting her is definitely no problem, I'm a fan of hers too. But how much of an effect can my support alone have?"

""

Wei Hongsi said, "It's better to have one more than one less."
