Chapter 39 Special Meeting
Chapter 39 Special Meeting
After Wei Hongsi finished speaking, Yu Sheng and Qian Jiayu gave their respective suggestions.
With this buffer period, Fang Wei and others have also sorted out their thoughts and shared their views.
Gu Shiming recorded everyone's opinions and suggestions, and combined them with his own work plan to outline the entire task for everyone, forming a preliminary work outline. Then, he asked everyone to brainstorm, identify and fill in any gaps, and determine the specific work steps and division of labor.
This stage is for free discussion, no longer limited to taking turns speaking; anyone can bring up any ideas they have at any time.
Most of the people present had no prior experience with this type of work, so they couldn't offer many suggestions on the specific implementation. In the latter part of the discussion, it was basically only Gu Shiming and Wei Hongsi who were actively involved, with others only occasionally adding a few words.
The way Fang Wei and the others looked at Wei Hongsi gradually became more complicated.
The young man's name was mentioned several times in the previous briefings given by Ji Yongsheng and Gu Shiming. They were aware of Wei Hongsi's role and contributions in this incident and project, and they acknowledged and appreciated his excellence.
After listening to Wei Hongsi's work ideas on establishing a standard system, I couldn't help but think more highly of him, but I still couldn't help but look down on this newcomer to the workplace.
They felt that, based on their experience and abilities, if they had been involved in the work from the beginning and known the main theme of the meeting in advance, their explanations would have been more comprehensive and in-depth than Wei Hongsi's. Young people, after all, always lack in ability and experience.
However, seeing that only Wei Hongsi could keep up with Gu Shiming's train of thought and offer some excellent suggestions, including some unfamiliar topics, they had to adjust their own position. At least in this project, Wei Hongsi had an advantage over them.
Yu Sheng and Qian Jiayu, who knew Wei Hongsi quite well, couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration. Clearly, Wei Hongsi had participated in similar work while studying; how many people can accumulate such experience? Having the right mentor truly makes a huge difference.
And this is exactly the result Gu Shiming wanted to see.
As someone with experience, he knew very well what the mindset of senior colleagues in the workplace was, especially those with technical backgrounds. If Wei Hongsi couldn't demonstrate something to convince them, no matter how many contributions he had made, he would only be seen as a minor follower.
Of course, Wei Hongsi can prove himself in his later work, but there will inevitably be a process of internal friction due to a lack of trust, which will affect the project team's work efficiency.
The order of the meeting participants and the first speaker's position were all part of Gu Shiming's plan to create a stage for Wei Hongsi. Whether he could perform well depended on Wei Hongsi himself; if he couldn't even seize this opportunity, he wouldn't deserve to be Gu Shiming's junior.
The meeting lasted until 5:30 PM, and after all the matters were settled, it adjourned. Gu Shiming kept Fang Wei, Wang Kang, and Chai Xinwei behind to discuss some matters concerning the technology development center with them.
The three people from Department Two, who were not involved in this matter, left first. While waiting for the elevator, Yu Sheng suddenly said, "It's not appropriate for anyone outside the project team to know about this work yet. Hong Si, it seems a bit inconvenient for you to be sitting in the lobby."
Yao Huafeng interjected, "The office next to mine is currently empty."
"That's a good idea." Yu Sheng nodded, then said to Wei Hongsi, "Why don't you go and take a look with President Yao?"
"Okay." Wei Hongsi naturally had no objections. These past few days, He Feng had been hanging around him every now and then, which was indeed a bit annoying.
When the elevator reached the 16th floor, Wei Hongsi followed Yao Huafeng to the office he had mentioned.
The room is about 23 or 24 square meters. Although it has been vacant for a while, it has been cleaned regularly and is very clean everywhere, but it looks a bit empty.
Directly opposite the entrance is a large floor-to-ceiling window facing the sun; to the right of the room is a single desk and chair set, with an ultrawide monitor on the desktop; near the door is a sofa and coffee table for entertaining guests, with a small potted green plant on the table; to the left is a cabinet that occupies most of the wall, with empty shelves visible through the glass doors.
"What does Engineer Wei think?" Yao Huafeng asked.
"That's good," Wei Hongsi nodded and said.
It's just a temporary office space, so there's no need to be picky. We can't just take their politeness seriously. Besides, what difference would it make if we moved to another office?
"Okay, then we can communicate more easily about the project later on."
"Mr. Yao, you're too kind. I'm new to the company and still have a lot to learn from you."
After exchanging a few polite words, Yao Huafeng went to attend to his own business. He needed to focus his main efforts on the IR1 project soon, so he had to adjust his plans and assign some tasks as quickly as possible.
Wei Hongsi sat down in the office chair, which seemed more comfortable than the chair at his workstation. The monitor on the desktop was considerably larger than the one at his workstation, but it didn't come with a computer. He opened all the drawers and cabinet doors on the desk and side cabinet; they were all empty and very clean.
After a quick inspection, I headed towards my workstation. As I passed the printer, I noticed an empty cardboard box next to it and picked it up.
I sat down at my desk, took my phone out of the drawer and checked it. There was a missed call and a message, both from my brother's number.
Electronic devices weren't allowed in the meeting on the 22nd floor, so he simply didn't bring his phone. The call was from fifteen minutes ago, and the text message came two minutes later: "The testing center has the results."
With a thought, Wei Hongsi brought up the "System" panel.
[Mission: Assist the police in finding the true cause of Li Yunxiang's death (Completed)]
[Task: Find the clues hidden in Plan B (Completed)]
The countdown timers for the two timed tasks have changed to "Completed," and the current contribution value has increased from 120 points to 320 points. Other information remains unchanged.
This "system" is really stupid; it doesn't even pop up a notification when the task is completed. It's not smart at all.
He couldn't help but grumble and exited the "System" panel. He disassembled the computer tower from his workstation, put the connecting cables, necessary accessories, and personal belongings into the empty cardboard box he had borrowed, then carried the box in one hand and the tower in the other, and went to the temporary office he had just been assigned.
It was well past closing time, and there were only a handful of people in the common office area; no one paid any attention to his behavior.
Wei Hongsi went inside, put down what he was holding, closed the office door, and sat on the sofa to return his brother's call.
I have to say, having your own personal office space is really great.
