Soon after, the tremors finally stopped, and the dark rays in the distance disappeared.
You can't see the bombarded ground in the distance, but you can see thick smoke billowing out, and instead of heat, you feel gusts of cold wind.
Cass felt a chill run down his spine; what kind of monster was fighting?
Even an explorer with an absurdly high level wouldn't choose to make a move in a place like this.
Did something go wrong while transporting dungeon items?
A monster with an extremely high level has been refreshed?
Or perhaps, the Fallen Order that once waged world war?
Cass, sword in hand, kept a watchful eye on his surroundings, wary of monsters. He could see some explorers heading back, some discussing the strange vibrations and black rays that had just occurred, while more explorers began to confront the monsters.
It's not surprising that anything can happen in a dungeon, after all, it's a dungeon.
Cass remembered what his teacher had once said and began to care about his teammates' situation:
"Are you two alright? Are you hurt anywhere?"
Brid helped up Corcy, who was still in shock and her legs were a little weak.
"I'm fine. Corsi, you..."
"I'm fine, thank you. I'll be alright after a while, and there's no need to use 'Xiao Yu' (a traditional Chinese medicine)."
Cass felt a little relieved to know that his teammates were all alright.
Suddenly, a commotion arose around him. Cass looked over and saw a group of people in blue and white uniforms bustling about in the scattered crowd.
It's a rescue team, the Benor Company's rescue team.
The injured person was quite noticeable because the rescue team only used one stretcher.
"Is anyone seriously injured?"
"With such chaos, it's not surprising that some people got injured."
During Corcy and Brid's conversation, Cass sensed something was amiss:
"Even if you get injured, your teammates can heal you with their skills, and at the very least, you should have healing potions to recover. You don't need a rescue team, right?"
“It’s also possible that the entire team has been severely injured, or that the priest is injured and unable to fight anymore.” When Brid looked closely at the wounded, she couldn’t help but open her mouth wide.
"that is……"
It looks very familiar...
His hair was as dark as night, and the bloodstains on his body made his face appear even whiter. Most importantly, I have a strong impression of the sportswear he was wearing.
It seems to be the same style that my neighbor was wearing this morning.
"Sirocco?!"
"Eh? That guy, is he your childhood friend?"
Ignoring Corcy, Brid went to check, and Cass followed in Brid's footsteps.
--------
Sirocco opened his eyes in a daze, and what came into view was a white ceiling.
"Unfamiliar ceiling."
I suddenly remembered this line.
The sound of a television came from nearby.
"Professor, what do you think caused this 'mysterious black light incident'? Is it related to the earthquake? Could it really be, as rumored, a new wave of terrorist attacks by members of the Fallen Order?"
"There's no need to worry about that. Judging from the video taken by netizens, an unidentified energy ray appeared first, followed by the ground shaking violently."
I've read the on-site report. The energy penetrated the ground between the first and second floors, causing instability in the foundation and resulting in tremors. Fortunately, the dungeon's repair mechanism is also functioning, preventing large numbers of monsters from the second floor from surging up to the first floor.
The Fallen Order is completely overthinking things; the Harmonizers certainly wouldn't let any Fallen Order member slip through. Besides, given the Fallen Order's past behavior, why would they use such powerful forces in the dungeon?
The professor was a master of balancing things, never mentioning the reason why.
Presumably, the matter has not been fully investigated yet, so it's best not to speculate.
But since it wasn't the Fallen Order, then it must have been caused by monsters? Did the developers activate the 5% refresh rate...?
"Gan!"
Sirocco regained consciousness in an instant.
Did I do that?
It shot out a beam of light that was hard, thick, and black!
Sirocco opened his eyes wide, only to find that he was unable to move.
There were no IV lines inserted into his body, nor was he weighed down by any heavy objects; he was simply...
I can't muster any strength.
How terrifying, it feels like I'm a puppet that can be manipulated at will.
Looking around, I realized that this huge ward only had my own bed.
It's like a VIP private room in a hospital, reserved for important figures.
Could the rescue team be collaborating with a major hospital to rip off the injured and extort money from them?
Sirocco remembered that in the original storyline, when he was rescued by the rescue team, he wasn't taken to a hospital, but rather to a simple but well-equipped rescue station.
"You're awake, Sleeping Beauty, earlier than expected."
I discovered a beautiful nurse.
She stood to the side, eating an apple while filling in information on the terminal screen.
What is this number?
The nurse held up three fingers.
"A number that is greater than 2 but less than 4".
"It seems you are quite lucid."
Looking out the left window, the sky was already a deep orange-red sunset, and stars could be faintly seen behind the clouds.
"Excuse me, how long have I been unconscious?"
"From the time the rescue team found you until now, it's been 4 hours and 36 minutes. Is this your first time casting magic? And you're soloing a dungeon, that's dangerous."
"I was forced into it too. By the way, how are these medical expenses calculated? I remember I have medical insurance."
Sirocco is probably struggling to afford the crystals he's used to farm monsters; is this place calculated by the hour...?
The nurse paused, seemingly noticing Sirocco's concerns, and then said, "You don't need to worry about that. It's just some examination fees, which have already been deducted by medical insurance."
"Oh, that's how it is."
"Compared to this, if the magic you use doesn't have enough mana, it will drain your stamina, just like what happened to you. Be careful in the future."
The nurse pointed at herself with her apple-eating finger: "You're only unconscious right now. It's good that you're not dead. Sometimes you can suffer from side effects like 'automatically depleting your magic power after casting a spell' or 'blinding your eyes'."
Are all nurses in this world so blunt in their speech?
"So everything is normal for me, right?"
"You've had a check-up, and there's nothing seriously wrong. You're perfectly healthy. You've just woken up, and your functions are slowly recovering. You should be able to be discharged tonight. It's just... there are some aftereffects."
"Huh? There are still aftereffects, what kind...?"
Could it be that they've discovered some kind of late-stage cancer or something similar?
Sirocco was a little nervous, while the nurse stared at his face with amusement.
"Could it be that he's been disfigured?"
"No, should I say it enhances your charm?" Then the nurse changed the subject: "Never mind, it won't affect your life or your combat performance, so don't worry about that."
"Hey, can you please explain things clearly? Stop keeping us in suspense like this."
"elder brother..."
The automatic door opened silently, and Hill appeared in the doorway.
The nurse then smoothly changed the subject:
"Thank your lovely sister. She called the rescue team immediately. If she had been a few minutes later, you would have become goblin food and be in the ICU instead of a regular ward."
Such a luxurious room is actually a regular ward?!
"Yeah...that's true, I've been given a second chance at life."
In any case, being alive is a victory, and thankfully Hill kept her promise.
"Then I won't bother you two siblings any longer. I didn't realize you were so popular; three girls came to see you."
"I can't ignore that. You didn't include my sister, did you? And what exactly are the aftereffects on me?"
I don't remember having three different travel routes.
"Who knows?" The nurse smiled slyly, finished her apple, and left.
